Anyone who lives in a place where it routinely drops below freezing should have an actual space heater.

i use my gaming machines to supplement my wood stove heating. every year despite -10 days, it hasn’t dropped below 20 in inhabited spaces. the gas company hates it and can’t figure out that i use maybe a grill tank worth of fuel from the utility each month.

My friend used to grow shrooms and he’d boot up Valheim just because it happened to heat his room to the optimal temperature for growing them

Lol I literally did this in college 😂 it was a small private college in Wyoming, and all the dorms were heated by baseboard heaters. The problem is, they ran along the exterior walls of the dorms, and the dorms were just long halls with rooms. The hot water for the heaters also came in at the middle of the building, and my room was at the end of the building with two exterior facing walls, so it already got pretty chilly, and by the time the hot water made it down to my room, it wasn’t nearly as hot. There were some winter nights where it got down to 56° in there.
So I decided to run Unigine Heaven on my PC overnight, and was running an AMD Phenom II X4/GTX 480 combo at the time. It kept my room a cozy 72° all winter 😂

do folding@home, or Seti@home,
do Crypto-mining.
Or do both and mine Gridcoin 🙂
)(ok, thats a wothless currency, but you mine it with folding@home, so nothing wastet here)
and shut down your monitor.
You have now a space-heater, that gives you some value (a worthless coin, that is at least a “thank you coin”) , and do something good for humanity (fight cancer for example)

Fine bench is a benchmark, run prime95 for true heating as it is a stress test.

Would running a game with RT/PT be better nowadays considering all gpu will be utilised? Obviously with another CPU benchmark in the background.
