all the SMDs on the backside look kinda discolored, is it possible that this card was used in one of those[ 3M Novec submersible cooling tanks](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7-QWmT2jfk)? Or its just a waterblock with missing fittings/connectors.
Can’t really imagine that this small metal block can dissipate 250W without throttling.
Saw this 2080ti on marketplace advertised as passively cooled but when I picked it up I noticed the inlet/outlet (photos didn’t show that angle). The guy maintained it was passively cooled as long as there’s fans in the case.

My 2080ti under full cover would go into protection the minute my pump is switched off, we are talking 200/300W GPU, that is not possible….

I’m really hoping this was just some reseller that has no idea what it actually is and just turned it on to make sure it displayed and not some gamer who let this reservoir act as an expensive makeshift passive heatsink. The 20 series was pretty greedy but even a 2080ti doesn’t deserve this.

Was this from the ebay listing that said it was used in a self driving car? I bought a load of those, but then returned them afteri opened them. All smelled like burned plastic.

By passively cooled they meant “i can only use that high end gpu to read my emails because i didn’t connect the waterblock to the pump”, right?

Obviously its not fully passive but cooled by loud & high-RPM chassis fans. If you look at the size of the cooler its obvious that OPs card can’t be passively cooled like this
