None. That’s the fucking point of cyberpunk

  2. luxtabula

NONE! You kind of miss the point. This isn’t some star Trek utopian society. Cyberpunk is basically the last hoorah before the fall of mankind.

And Star wars is not cyberpunk. Big city at night doesn’t mean cyberpunk.

btw im not saying these are good places to live cuz they’re not obviously.

  4. EwokalypseNow

Preferably none because no sane person would ever willingly choose to live in a cyberpunk world.

If I *had* to choose, probably Night City so I could bail and go live with the nomads or something.

Also Star Wars isn’t cyberpunk. Big neon city doesn’t automatically equate to cyberpunk.

Top floor of any of these buildings seems nice.

If I choose Tokyo-3, do I have to put up with constant Angel attacks?

Out of those I’d probably say night city, sure the food is mostly plastic and you’re more likely to be shot to death than anything else but I enjoy the vibe.

Second choice probably new port city.

  8. That space resort station from Sprawl series. Before it got all screwed. Otherwise i pass. Love genre, but no thanks

  9. None of them because they are full of filth, lack of anything good, all of them full od rats, cockroaches with shortages of water, food and electricity. Even if you have access to water it is poisoned and if you want good water you have to pay extra amount of cash to get bottled water

Night city. Drugs, no one gives a fuck, a bunch of freaks, reminds me a bit of my childhood where we would run around and the neighborhood dealer would try to shoo us away from the deal…until we were old enough and he wanted to get us hooked up. Sure only like three or four people were shot since we didn’t have much gun violence there (Europe), but yea, it was a bit of a fucked piece of land, now it went downhill even more

if the standard of living is equally poor across all these cities, i’d just choose the most aesthetic one with purple, pink, and blue neon lights

You’re getting shredded for this because, of course, Cyberpunk cities are a dystopian nightmare, and reflects our fears of what society could become without correction.

*But…* I think those attacking you are missing that it is also *supposed* to be alluring, in some way. Titillating or thrilling in some manner. We’re afraid of it but we’re also excited by it. Cyberpunk is not just dystopic, it is sexy and cool, it is dystopic *because it is sexy and cool*. We feel sure that this is not the future we want, and at the same time recognise that *maybe it is what we want*. That is what makes it so terrifying, it might be inevitable, it might be the natural end point of humanity and its desires.

Unrestrained hedonism is a constant in cyberpunk media, and who can honestly say that they never want that?

The bigger problem with your post is the options! No Sprawl? No Freeside? What about the London seen in Mona Lisa Overdrive? Or neo-Tokyo?

  13. Averla93

None, and I know all of them.
Which mentally sane individual could possibly want to live in Neo Tokyo 3?

  14. holiestMaria

Night city, it at least has some green and js somewhat walkable.

  15. As many people are pointing out, “None” is probably the best answer. If I had to choose one, it would probably be Coruscant or New Port City since those (probably) have the best chance of survival or at least some semblance of a decent life.

I think LA in the Blade Runner universe and Night City have similar issues, they *can* be beautiful in some areas but only if you’re in like the top 5% and making Corpo money. Blade Runner’s LA probably has a lot of pollution issues (Agent K going home and it’s like snowing sticks out to me), dust storms, and probably a lot of violence we don’t see on screen. Night City has plenty of gang violence we witness firsthand, if you’re not getting kidnapped and harvested for organs/cyberware then you’re getting plain slaughtered in the streets from gang violence.

The one from those Lo-Fi videos on YouTube.

  17. elektromas

Rouge City from A.I. Artificial Intelligence

  18. Songhunter

Nar Shadda, which is just Corusant with better clubs.

Also, who the fuck would like to live in Neo Tokyo? Like you ain’t gonna be living there for long. Or just living for long.
