This isn’t a positive. You used to be able to pay to permanently remove the ads not on the basis you keep paying the subscription. I actually opened the microsoft store with the intent to make a purchase (i wanted solitaire and mahjong) only to find that such things are on a sub only basis and thus spent no money.
Normalizing this rent seeking behavior is almost as bad the rent seeking itself imo.
