Considering money restraints

What’s important to remember is consoles nickel and dime you after you buy them. Want to play any ps5 game online? Time to pay 80$ every year. And there’s also all the other things you can do with a pc that you can’t on a console. So that’s largely a personal choice but out of principle I won’t buy a console that makes me pay them money for servers they don’t even host.

    Also, mods

Yes. For $500 bucks you aren’t going to get much as far as gaming performance. A PS5 is going to give you a better experience. I’m primarily a PC gamer too.

  3. What are the specs of the $500 PC? A new $500 PC probably won’t beat a PS5. Used, maybe.

  4. Neither_Dot4142

It’s not about being better its the fact that consoles would be more optimised.

Console gamers are eating good this generation. If you need a PC for anything other than gaming, it may be the better choice. Purely gaming? Maybe PS5.

  6. If you’re using your PC *only* for gaming, yes. Otherwise, eh, it depends

  7. The main thing is games, if you buy a PS5 you need to buy games as well, maybe you can get a subscription or buy them individually which will keep on adding cost.
Whereas on PC , you can play a wide variety of games , you can also emulate PS2 and PS3 … Yeah for 500 bucks it will be low end however you would have a wide range of game selection.

If you play specific games with your friends.. like COD then I think PS makes sense as anyways you will be playing the same game most of the time and you can also use it as a media center..

Many of my friends play DotA and nothing else so they haven’t upgraded their setup in the last 5 years or so.. the game runs great and they don’t need any extra horsepower

In my case I like to play a lot of games from HALO ,Star Wars and many old titles as well so I went for a PC.

You can get ton of free games on PC. PS5, not much. Consider the games you want to play. If you’re someone who wants to try out different games quite often, go with PC. If you play only few games and would be content with them, go with PS5.

when it comes to graphic/performance the ps5 is better than $500 PC .

you get PS exclusive games .

and that’s the end of it.

    pros of PC :

games prices are cheaper on PC and no online subscription needed to play online (if too broke you can wear your pirate hat)

much more wider range of games and emulation you can play tons of console exclusive games (not all of them )

plus PC is far better when it comes to multi tasking and have better upgradability .

if only considering performance ps5 is better but i would go for the pc

  11. MrMoussab

If you compare pure gaming power, yes, a ps5 is more powerful.
However a PC isn’t just a gaming console, and you game for cheaper as well, heck you can even sail the high seas if you want and play offline for free.

  12. KeycapS_

I would choose PC everytime, even tho it will be slower. Since im playing mostly competitive games and using ps5 to play sony exclusives

I don’t know why none mention this, maybe is only me, but playing with m&k is so much better in so many games!

I was on ps5 for the last 3 years, and I still have it, It’s an amazing system.
Now that I bought pc again, I’m enjoying a lot of games that I hate on ps5, solely for m&k.

I play claw with the controller and I’m quite good with it, I still play competitive with the controller, but m&k it’s simply another level for enjoyment. It’s like playing different games for immersion and feeling.

Depends on the purpose. For gaming, yes, a PS5 would be better.

    For everything else. No.

  15. Cheesecakebasegetsme

its not the entry price, its the price to continue purchasing new games. PC is cheaper overtime and can add parts over time, not purchase a new console model.

PC is cheaper across time. PS controls the digital market.

  16. metric55

The only argument for PC in this price range is if you want to play PC games or need it as a combination gaming/task workhorse. If you’re looking to play games that are on both platforms, then PS5 will give you better graphics.

  17. Lazer_beak

no way , unless like me, you hate most AAA and mainly play indy , a console would next to useless to me

  18. BloodyGotNoFear

Pc you have a mouse and keyboardband that alone already lets pc win. Playing shooters with a gamepad is stupid

  19. Can we normalise people building their own computers rather than looking for retailed ones, it’s really not that difficult to build one. It’s scary for sure but it’s a learning experience too plus you run less risk of getting trashy hardware.

  20. mr_chip_douglas

Lol why does this topic get this crowd riled up so hard? I would never even consider getting a console. PC fanboy. But the PS5 and I think the new Xbox (whatever the fuck it’s called) are better price/ performance. Wanna go deeper? Sure it’s more nuanced for multiple reasons and uses. But on it’s face that’s just a fact.

  21. Corey_FOX

well Pure preformance, yes a PS5 will outpreform a PC of equvelant cost. But id say you would be eble to enjoy TrippeA Games on both. just turn down the graphic settings on the pc a little.
BUT do consider the other advantages of a PC.
cheaper, (or even free 🏴‍☠️) games, No monthly subscriptions to play online, and the most important of all in my oppinion you can acually do other stuff other than gaming. For example, Google has free Programing and IT courses that include a proper cerification from them so you could potentially get a job in IT. You could teach yourself to edit videos in DaVinci Resolve witch is THE software used by Marvel, A24, and pleanty of other studios to edit movies, and its literally free for personal use! ORR you could download Blender or Fusion 360 and learn 3D modeling, meybe sell models on etsy, could then get a 3D printer and sell thingies.
Point is as where a PS5 basically just plays games, bluerays and meybe a little web.
While a PC literally Designed the PS5, and all those games probably ran on a PC way before a PS5 during development.

a PS5 is a enteratiment device and nothing else.

a PC is where you can make money, aswell as entertaining yourself.

  22. PunchYoPhase

You can do more with pc, ex web search, write papers, etc

  23. WhyDoName

I’d rather have a pc than a console even if the pc was a lottle weaker than the console.
