At level 50 tier 5 ++ items outclass anything that is Tier 5 +
I dropped Tier 4 at level 45ish.
Clothing is different, only cosmetic now, some bonuses apply to face / head or outer body.
Cyberware is possible to upgrade with a LOT of tier 5 crafting items ( impossible to buy as far as i know ) but can be foud or bought between tiers, so dont upgrade tier 4 to tier 5, because you soon will find new cyberware tier 5 to be bought at any ripperdock.
Far easier to farm money than crafting items.
Iconics are worth to upgrade to tier 5 ++ but not everything, those you use a lot in your build specification and with helpfull benefits.
Only Tier 5 or 5+, except the Kyubi that I like but couldn’t find at tier 5 yet. I dismantle everything now, except Iconic and fav. Of course every iconic you keep. Arrive a stage where the is no point to keep lower tier. Clothes are different, I use only ugly ass Tier 5 but skins are made of pretty much anything…
I use some tier 4 quickhacks for lower ram cost. But anything else is 5++ and/or iconic.
Gear and cybernetics only tier 5+ or 5++. Clothes whatever I like and looks good as it doesn’t matter now 🙂

I have a mod that lets me upgrade any weapon, not just iconics. So yah I upgrade my stuff. Tend to prioritize cyberware though.
Quickhacks are the only thing you might want to downgrade for RAM costs. For everything else (other than clothing), higher tiers are just better. Upgrade your chrome and iconics and equip the highest tier other gear you find.
Just a note, once you get to high enough level you can get iconic quickhacks as well, and some of them have the same RAM costs as lower tier hacks, so check those when you pick them up.
T5 stuff for me except suicide which I can only find the T4 of. It feels quite powerful to kill 3 people in the blink of an eye but you’re not the one doing it, they’re doing it to themselves you’re honor.
Level 50. Immediately dismantle everything I find below level 5, and I’m starting to dismantle 5 also, keeping only 5+. Soon I’ll be keeping only iconics. That’s the aim. Upgrade all iconics to max.
All clothes are dismantled also. I only keep the few that give me the buffs I want, and now I’ve got them, there don’t appear to be any higher levels anyway in terms of armour, weapon zoom, QH upload time, etc.
Not 100% sure, but it seems that any item of clothing you get goes into your wardrobe anyway, even if you dismantle it. Certainly my wardrobe is full of options and yet I only own about 6 of my choice, plus Silverhand’s gear.
5++ everything. It was annoying grinding the upgrade mats, but that cyberwear is prestine.
Some low tier quick hacks are great cause they don’t cost much RAM.
And clothes dont matter.
Sometimes I have to even handycap myself with some of my old shit guns and cybernetics so my enemies could have 5% change to survive.
I was all tier 5++ or iconic before I reached level 40
I use T4 and below, non-Iconic T5, to make money. You can make millions selling weapons.
