Upcoming Cyberpunk (Orion) Must continue in NightCity with keeping current city and expanding it – just like spiderman2 did can’t imagine another cyberpunk not in nightcity

  1. it could take place a decade or two after V’s story ends, that way the level of expansion is believable. making it that massive would also be good if they intend to deliver on multiplayer this time

Just because you can’t imagine it doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea to change locations for a new game. While I agree that NC might have many more stories to tell I’d also trust the developers to deliver an incredible gaming experience in a different city.

  3. VoidLookedBack

They could simply open up new buildings and revamp some areas. There’s no need to add a whole other city unless it means that you can travel to other cities like Tokyo or Chicago.

  4. Fractalistical

I’d prefer they add interiors to some of the buildings.

I hope they will do another take on Night City (similar timeline or other) but I hope they won’t expand it through more land, with exception of cut North Oak.

What I hope for is more stuff in-doors.

But looking at the fact they’re making Orion in a new engine we will probably get another city or NC in another timeline because it would be really difficult to make it just like it was in RedEngine and 2077.

Adding more detail into different areas, opening up interiors, exploring vertically more is the way to go. NC is heart of the IP, and while I would like too see pieces of other areas, it should remain the focus.

Having an already pre-built NC would allow them to make the open world exploration deeper. I’d much rather they do that than have to do everything from scratch. Plus seeing how the different burrows developed over the few years we’ve been away would be cool.

I would like to see aNight City again after a gap of time, but maybe with a DLC which lets us explore a more heavily colonized Moon.

Have u forgotten what happened last time in 2020 ?? We want lots of things and expect more , but keep it low and let’s the devs do what they want to . If they decide the game is not going to be in night city then it’s their choice . No need to force shit on them

  9. LoganKnight49

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

Night City is the main character of Cyberpunk.

Cyberpunk without Night City is like Batman without Batman.

  10. CHEEZE_BAGS

Night city has tons of closed buildings, no reason to go elsewhere when there is so much potential

  12. Totally concur. There is enough empty space already within Night City as presented to create a dozen games of this size. A hundred, maybe. They wouldn’t even need to expand the city’s overall footprint if they focused on building up the existing environment.

CDPR even originally intended for there to be a pretty substantial underground portion of the city, but that idea was scrapped for time. There’s still a few entrances to the underground dotted about the map, and if you clip through the floor in some places you can find some vestigial traces of the underground.

So yes. The next Cyberpunk game should ideally still be set in Night City, the road plan should be mostly the same (barring infrastructural improvements and realistic changes over whatever gap in time between 2077 and the time of Orion). New areas should be built inward, upward, and down.

  13. Nah there’s plenty of better locations than night city.

  14. skrott404

Use the same city. Expand it. Open it up. Make it more interactable. Make an imsim. Profit.

  15. shotgunsforhands

I’d rather they shrink the map and create more within the city. Remove the deserts and add verticality: more buildings you can enter, more doors to open, maybe a subway section for the cyberzombie metro crossover (I kid, kinda).

  16. Clever_Angel_PL

the world is changing very quickly, placing it in like 2085 would be enough to remake half of the map from the ground

  17. Marmeladun

Since they are switching engine and will have to rebuild it almost from the scrap doubt it.

Beside i would prefer Moon. Sandevistan in Zero g is something my vestibular system begs me not to witness.

  18. CookieNinja50

Yeah, even with moving to the Unreal engine I think it’s too much work to make a completely new city for another game when Night City still has so much left unexplored

  19. AdamM093

The place is partial to mass destruction.

Not only that, but night city is much, much larger in the table top, could just catch up with that.

  20. OuterRimSmuggler

Idk I’d kind of like to see another city. New York, Chicago. Maybe somewhere different, Vladivostok. Would be kinda cool to see the soviet union and how it’s doing away from Moscow. Apparently Soviet citizens have a higher literacy rate than NUSA citizens. Would be a fun space to show how a soviet population is fairing better than the post unification wars NUSA. Let the game devs go full future dystopian.

Another option would be Souel. Even more high tech integrated into daily life.

Frankly it’s the Suburbs that need to be expanded, if you read the source Material the suburbs go on like most American cities. Beyond that they should add little Europe, the Night city University district and a dedicated Marina district to the downtown Island. Add a main road Artery and about 3 to 4 side areas to each excising sector in the city that’s already in the game. Expand into the buildings that already exist, continue to add levels to the game world vertically, Night city sewers need to be expanded as well.

  22. Bogdansixerniner

Can’t wait to hear everybody complain about them reusing the same map!

  23. trevorgoodchyld

It probably will be in NC, but most other cities are like that so another setting would be similar enough, if it’s an open world game. As long as V is dead, and V is definitely dead except in the new ending, it will be fine.

  24. Verkerria

I don’t see them modifying NC much, there is a huge problem With trash on the outskirts. More buildings are in ruins than under construction too. Maybe we will get a new city

  25. ExplosiveIronSN

Considering how much of the Cyberpunk universe is just about Night City, there’s a pretty great chance we’ll get this 😀

  26. Ewandomon

A Tears of the Kingdom treatment would be great. Work on what they have and enhance to perfection!

  27. Thal-creates

Dont make night city bigger. Make it deeper. More open world activities

  28. NextGenSleder

the thing is, they are not using the same engine for Orion, so porting or re-creating NC is more difficult than some people realize. I agree though and to echo what some people are saying here, expanding NC vertically is the move. making closed off skyscrapers the exception rather than the rule is a phenomenal move. that being said it is waaaaay easier said than done. I hope CDPR is taking the poor launch of Cyberpunk 2077 to heart and is going to spend much more time polishing and optimizing Night City, which I understand is much easier in the engine they are shifting to in Orion, Unreal Engine 5, as opposed to their in-house RED Engine

  29. Netorawr

You can see that A LOT of structures are still in construction. So a revamp is very much possible. I do hope they make the badlands much bigger though.

  30. MorenaLedovec

we dont need to have new city, just make the old one have bigger districts, more buildings more detail

  31. Arighetto

I’d rather it be in a different country.

  32. Fit-Heart8980

I think it’ll take place on the moon

  33. OperationExpress8794

No, need to set another city like london tokio sao paulo etc

  34. Cleverbird

I was under the impression that was indeed the plan all along? And why Orion might come out sooner than 2077 did? Since all the assets already exist, its just a matter of porting things over from the RedEngine and focus all attention on making it look pretty, run smoothly and fill it with quests and content.

  35. 0scar-of-Astora

Man, any talk of Orion just makes me remember how far, far away it is.

  36. Wooden_Sherbert6884

Unless they are pushing the sequel much further in the timeline, then no i don’t wanna see Night city. It would make 77 feel insignificant and outdated and most importantly stupid. There is no doubt the whole city would get Dogtown treatment and get completly overhauled and changed to the point where it’s almost unrecognizable from the previous iteration and i don’t want that.

Explorable buildings are also a pipe dream, we live in age where most games fucking eat your cpu power for a breakfast and gpu’s are sweating bullets so hard, they need upscaling and frame generation to keep up with visual improvements. The only games that all fully explorable sandbox are bethesda games and because of that they make tiny ass maps with very few npc’s and all of it locked off by loading screens. I would not sacrifice the seamlessness and a breathtakingly complex city for that.

Also i don’t really wanna see only Night City. Like it’s just a corrupt city in the middle of desert overrun by japanese…. BORING. Give me something else. I still kinda want Night City in the game but maybe they could add separate maps like they did in witcher 3 and give each their own unique vibe. This would also make developing a dlc easier since it would be just another map just like blood and wine and not a tiny ass area that somehow has to have 30+ hours of content to warrant 30$ price tag.

Pondsmith’s world is way too interesting to just stay in Night city but i understand if they do that. Every Cyberpunk game is set in Night’s City after all

  37. ChaseTheMystic

But we already know it’s desert out there. That doesn’t work at all unless they shoehorned some reason for why they suddenly built a bunch of stuff in a desert.

  38. KokiriKidd_

I would love to see the same NC with more enterable buildings and “dungeon like” structures.
