Cyberpunk 2077 ruined the V moniker for me. Like when characters in other films (Varrick in „Kate“) or shows (Veronica Lodge in „Riverdale“) are called by their nickname V, all I can think of is our Cyberpunk 2077’s V. There‘s only one real V.
In the movie it’s a foreshadowing because she’s getting up to date on things by reading an encyclopedia alphabetically – and super fast, too – later she gets to W and sees *War* which triggers a mental breakdown.
You’d think she’d’ve stumbled upon “Genocide”, “Holocaust”, “Atom Bomb” first, but it was kind of gimmicky for the movie.
One never knows what crazy inspiration flies into the minds of video game writers.
They could’ve been stoned, eating cold pizza, and rewatching 5th Element while brainstorming and one of them started laughing when she says V is good.
Then it becomes an in joke that turns into a part of the game.

The Fifth Element was made in 1997, choom. Cyberpunk 2077 wasn’t even an idea then.
Twas the moment that, after years of searching, had Twilight Sparkle finally realized that friendship was indeed magic.
I’m pretty sure she was studying the Dictionary and asked him where he was on it. So he lies and tells her he’s at V, because what regular person studies the dictionary like that? She, not knowing this tells him that V is good. It was a tongue in cheek funny moment.
I’m pretty sure V is just a way for them to give the option of different genders during player creation, since it can be short for either Valerie or Vincent
I’m not sure why gender neutral names never came up, but I highly doubt this had any influence on it whatsoever
