I get BG3, but AW2? I heard some well founded criticism about the story (From people who played it). That whole FBI agent character is a really strange decision.
People always complain that Nintendo gets special treatment from the critics, but I think is actually Sony that gets a lot of leeway. Spider-man 2 does not deserve that many nominations.

Baldur’s Gate III deserves everything. Incredible game, rich storyline, varied combat, a million and one surprises and details, it’s the full AAA experience minus the poor optimisation, predatory loot mechanics and unfinished trash that we usually get.
Even if it’s not your type of game, you should 100% support it for what it stands for alone.

I was thinking to myself. How would I rank these games, then I realized I would rank them by my enjoyment in these games. I then realized I think I should take these awards less seriously because I would never rate games like Baldurs Gate 3 , Alan Wake 2 or Spider-Man 2 highly because those games are just not my cup of tea.
I enjoyed and played Cyberpunk 2077 the most but I don’t think it should get game of the year

I enjoyed BG3 and TOTK equally. I’ll be happy as long as one of them win it. I didn’t play it but I’m surprised FF16 didn’t get nominated. Cyberpunk PL was incredible and 2.0 in general is amazing. I’m just happy that I actually played a few games nominated this year.

I don’t understand why Cyberpunk and RE4 are up there? Don’t get me wrong, I loved Cyberpunk’s update / dlc and I’m sure RE4 is amazing. So is Dead Space for that matter. But they aren’t new games.

CP2077 shouldnt be on the list. They relassed a DLC this year, it should stand on the release date version like all the other games on the list or not be a contender at all because it came out a few years ago. Not fair the devs get to fix their horse shit of a game for 2 years and get another shot at GOTY, they flubbed the release they should deal with the consequences.

Alan wake to me is a 7/10 cool story and amazing graphics. But the combat, puzzles and overall gameplay was very mediocre and super linear.
Baldurs gate 3 changed the way I look at video games. It’s as close to perfect I’ve ever seen.
Hope Alan Wake 2 (my personal GOTY) wins a few categories, though I believe BG3 will sweep. TOTK is good but I think it relies on BOTW too much for it to stand out. Spider-Man 2 being nominated so much seems strange as the community seems disappointed with it.
I wish cyberpunk would win more but most of my enjoyment was from the DLC and that doesnt really count for GOTY.
