Well yea. It’s a sandbox lol. Pretty much all modern sandbox open world games have been like that for almost a decade. Just look at GTA5, RDR2 and the Witcher 3. Kinda comes with the territory. Hell even Elden Ring is like that too

Apart from the loading screens of course
DaveMash
huh? Did I miss something?
jerchewicz
apart from fast travel, or going/leaving dogtown
cxvqa
Fast travel?
Hyokkuda
A lot more games could get away with not having any loading screens at all by hiding them behind better game mechanics. I am glad the developers for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided tried, but gosh… those *train/metro/tube* rides were painful. lol
Subject_Proof_6282
They’re mostly replaced by elevator rides in some interiors and buildings, but since they happen in real time they aren’t really loading screens.
Also there’s the skip cutscene that happens during some missions when you have to wait or skip a ride as a passenger, technically they’re like loading screens.
OneMagicBadger
It does just very small/brief ones, unlike a certain field of stars people compare it to which loading screen and menu navigation the vidya gaem
Timythedarkside
well….
initial game loading, loading save from menu, manually reloading a save, reloading a save when you die and last but most definitely least
falling off the map
solem_deum
the lifts are covert loading screens
Coulstwolf
As opposed to Starfield that has no gameplay and only exclusively loading screens
Ornn5005
Elevator rides, long corridors, highways between city sections are all elegantly hidden loading screens.
That’s why if you use the fast travel terminal, there is a loading screen, cause you skipped the hidden ones.
HyperionPhalanx
you can’t really be a Open world game if you have loading screens, games today are actually trying to get rid of loading screens all together
it was kinda jarring when i played HL2 again when it had to load a couple of times within a level
TheXpender
On that note, can we talk about how bland the loading screens are? I’m not just talking about booting up the game but fast travel has the worst screenshots I’ve ever seen. Meanwhile Witcher 3 has recaps and the classic tips bar to keep you waiting. What happened?
AwesomeX121189
Have you never played an open world game?
Soft-Ad3660
The most insane thing is that the initial loading screen lasts like 5 seconds if you have a good ssd
EQGallade
This mf has never turned off the game or fast traveled.
DennisDelav
Of course, that was one of the selling points when they were developing the game
TizzlePack
This is wildly incorrect
Lydia_lovett
Every single elevator? God of war technically “doesn’t” have loading screen either, but all those shimmy segments are loading screens. Same with cyberpunk
GhostRiders
It’s has many loading screens, it’s just that are very well hidden.
tcarter1102
Just the one very short one when you load up
flasheck
What do you think are all These Long Ass Elevator Rides?
CMDR_LYSAN
The entrance to Dogtown is a loading screen, a clever one, but still a loading screen 😁
Techykatt
I kinda like the loading screens, they made it unique by making it feel like a radio.
It’s interesting, but after hearing about Hanako’s abduction 20 times in a row, I grew tired of that specific story.
TrueDraconis
Every game has Loading Screens obvious ones and less obvious ones like Elevators, Doors and such.
Not to mention that locations that aren’t currently relevant to a Quest and are not accessible are not loaded.
Reign0ff34r
Only when fast travelling and loading into the game.
your_friend_bacon
Unless you play on PS4 .. then it’s atrocious. Fast Travel / Dying means waiting 2 mins for everything to reload.
Not a prob on ps5 tho.
PartTime13adass
Zero obvious loading screens. Hundreds of cleaver ones.
BreadfruitThis5302
With skip main menu mod its even more true.
dntwrrybt1t
Speak for yourself, I gotta use the pause menu as a loading screen if I drive too fas on my potato
TheeConArtist
Yeah it and Star Citizen are like the only ones where there’s a single load at the beginning and then no more loading ever and I highly respect it, and somehow I’m able to play Star Citizen with my friend that is obsessed with it and plays every night because of multiplayer. Oh how I wish I could experience Night City with my friends. Some of the best stories we tell as gamers are with other real humans, remember the whole #battlefield moment thing. Sitting in a bar in SC vs Night City both are epic because you seamlessly walked there from your apartment in game but one of them you remember for the moments that didn’t have to happen sitting around with real friends laughing about nonsense like a REAL bar and Star Citizen is the only game in the world capable of doing that for my Sci-fi kick, definitely worth a try if you like how immersive Cyberpunk commiting to the no-loadings is try SC on one of it’s free weeks coming up some of yall might find another game like this one to add to the small collection of extremely immersive and interactive games, because we all know Starfield wasn’t into that kind of innovation… sadly.

These loading screens are smart unlike in sone recent sci-fi game

*Starfield shamefully hiding in a dark corner*

Lifts/elevators are technically loading screens- Yes they can be covered by dialogue but that’s where the areas can be loaded and de-loaded.
Best other example of this- Guardians of the Galaxy game, when squeezing through a tight space, it’s actually de-loading the area you were in, and loading the next
ReplyNotficationsOff
Loading screens really are disappearing from games, they happen so fast anymore . Sometimes it’s like “whoa let me take a drink or hit the bowl for second “

Almost a 100 hours, and you made me realize that
If you never use fast travel, sure.
