Too high for movies, too low for video games. Just right for soap operas. I guess you can just switch the game’s language to Spanish and pretend you’re watching a telenovela.

The copium with console players regarding Starfield’s 30fps made me sick to my stomach.

Meh unless its a shooter or similar I don’t really care about FPS. If its something like a new game 45 plus is fine for me. I don’t think 30 is “good” but its playable on a lot of games. I’ve rarely paid over 250 for a GPU for 2 decades of PC building and that used to be middle of the road. I get it, times change, prices go up. I just cant justify it personally. I’d rather just wait and spend less on GPU, games come half baked most of the time for the first few months to a year anyway.

Never. 60hz tolerable at best. 120hz is mandatory.
CupcakeFantastic8383
After playing at 60 FPS+ for so long 30fps feels slow.
Alucardhellss
Going from 144hz to 30 is absolutely nauseating
zeus1911
Ya it’s not. Diablo 2 single player was 25fps? Pretty rough and GTA San Andres with the in game frame cap on 30fps? Was so much harder to drive, but the game didn’t work properly without it on, textures wouldn’t load in time, so you would hit invisible objects and the story/cutscenes would break as garage doors would close to fast if frame limiter not enabled.
Back when I played quake 2 and early counter strike 15 fps was enough kinda haha, but that’s a bloody long time ago.
DiamondRocks22
It’s weird how under certain circumstances I can find 30fps very bearable (I don’t recall feeling a problem in breath of the wild or many 30fps Xbox 360 titles) but then Xbox one version of adventure time pirates I put on my tv’s motion interpretation because I found its frame rate unbearable
MHD6969
30 fps is not bad.

Hey!
Some of us still use potato PCs!
My beautiful machine has been a faithful companion for like 8 years already, I need to upgrade it but not in the near future and in the meantime 30 fps is fine

It could be 144 fps or 25 fps as long as I can play the game I don’t care

Cue the cities skylines 2 fanbase shouting “30 fps is fine”

Yeah, and it hurts my soul every time someone says 30fps is enough.

Eh, I can go from 165hz on my PC to a locked 30hz/30fps on my Steam Deck and adjust just fine. It depends on the game.
assthetics_
you see the trick is to have old shitty components that don’t let you play higher than 30fps, so you never get spoiled by anything better.
MayorBryce
With a controller, 30fps is fine. With keyboard + mouse, it’s bad.
IndyPFL
On very rare occasions it works (Undertale and its “sequels”) but usually I’d prefer at least 60.
NintendoFanatic2
I mean I’m fine with 30 fps for most games, newer ones I prefer 60 fps but for old school Wii U and Wii games I’m perfectly happy with 30
BoxAhFox
30fps in changed, very playable. i imagine alot of games like solitair are playable at 30fps if you somehow have a pc unable to run these games like i did
any other game, especially fps games that are competitive, and usually any 3d game, 30fps is NOT playable
Competitive-Hope981
Even 20fps is good for me if it’s stable. I have that down bad system.

30fps is unacceptable. 60fps has to be the minimum for gaming.

Once you break that 30fps barrier, there’s no going back. Lying to yourself isn’t going to change that fact lol

30 fps should have been left in the past where it belongs

Up until PS5 came out all console games were 30fps and you mfs didn’t blink an eye playing some of the best games ever made at 30fps.
Average fps is a meaningless number. What matters is that the game is smooth.
You can have a smooth gaming experience as low as 25fps, as long as the 0.1% and 0.01% fps figures are consistently near your average.
If your average is 120fps but your 0.1% is 48fps, you will not have a smooth experience.
Steady at 30fps is infinitely preferable to 240fps that isn’t.
PeterMcPhile
Possible exception if the game meets all of these criteria:
– The game is in third-person
– Is being played with a controller
– Has rock-solid frame times and never dips below
– The graphics are absolutely pumped to the max

Its playable for me since im used to it, but i damn well enjoy a good 60+ fps

Mario Kart runs at 30fps when you do 4 player and it just ruins it for me. Hopefully their next console can pull off 60fps for split screen

I agree but also Bloodborne exists so I guess it depends

When you play on a potato, and have no other option, then just deal.

Cities Skylines 2 so nearly gets to make the claim that 30fps is fine because it really does feel fine to me….. When the game actually even manages to hit 30. I love my slideshow city….
