I always saw it as V’s acceptance that he has fully left everything and everyone he loves behind.
Why lose oxygen if he wears a space suit with a full mmu?
It’s clearly supposed to be stabilizing/propulsion jets.
I don’t know enough about space physics to know if that would actually *work*, but the concept has been in scifi forever.
Why would what’s happening in that scene possibly be “V dies before they even make it to the station for no reason”

How did people see this ending and think “yeah my man’s dying out there, the end 👍🏻” he’s about to pull the sickest heist in history
i mean it is kinda far away how much steam do those stabiliser things typically have? i reckon they probably run out of something either way
This ending made me so sad, I wnated V to stay with Panam 🙁
Him dying at that point would just be beyond anticlimactic. Why would they build up such a huge make or break moment for V just to space him? It doesn’t even make sense for the blue eyes to just space him if they think he’d be of some use to them.

My initial split-second reaction just based on how the scene is shot was that V is losing oxygen because they shoot the scene like it’s the helmet connector that ruptures for a split second, similar to what happens to Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 2.
However, again this was all just a split-second thought in my head because V remains calm and starts approaching the station and then as the scene progresses I was like, “Oh, it’s just propulsion. Wouldn’t make sense V would just randomly suffocate here.”
But I’ll always stand firm that the initial moment it occurs is shot in a way that makes it seem like what a lot of people think. It’s just that common sense from what follows makes it clear what is actually happening, so to be standing firm on ”V definitely suffocates here” is strange.
So what do they think happens with Blue Eyes? He just keeps trying to call V and wonders what the hell happened to the mission?
It is wired to think that, when I was playing for the first time, I thought, wait what was that!!, what happened!! So not the clearest thing either!

I don’t care what happens in that scene, but I still got goosebumps everytime I see it. I did 100% on this game and this is the best ending for me (haven’t played the DLC so please don’t spoil).
That would be an absoloutley hillarious ending though. V gets to space to pull the heist but his spacesuit leaks and he dies
So prior to this thread I had never heard this theory and would have agreed it’s dumb, but after looking at a few key shots, I think this has merit…
The shot from behind when the air initially starts “leaking” is different from the scene a few seconds prior, after he leaves the transport ship, you can see the stabilizer bursts fire momentarily. But the shot from behind shows three bursts from the neck area, in three directions, and they continue jetting while Never Fade Away begins playing…
Usually, stabilizer bursts aren’t constant like that because in space there isn’t wind resistance to slow you down, you can just keep accelerating, and if you accelerate (ie burn too much fuel/propellant to get up to speed), you need an amount of propellant firing in the opposite direction to *de*celerate so you don’t smash into the thing you’re attempting to board/dock with/land on.
The expression in V’s face could be the G-Forces of the acceleration, or it could be them struggling for breath, or some combination.
Add to this that CDPR recently said of PL that they [“[…] always wanted to make an ending in which V gets the cure and survives,” reveals Sarzyński, “but the cost of it had to be huge.”](https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/cyberpunk-2077-phantom-liberty-never-144446936.html?guccounter=1) That line makes me wonder even more about The Sun’s ending.
All this to say, I’m really not sure. I thought the Sun was the best ending cuz it seemed like V was going to do the heist and maybe get saved, but this theory made me watch it all with fresh eyes. Maybe I’m just completely dumb and don’t know physics (I don’t really), but before re-watching the scenes a few times, I wouldn’t think this theory has any merit, and now, I kinda do…?
It definitely still seems open to interpretation, but what I saw really calls into question my belief that The Sun was one of the better endings… I’m open to competing theories as well. I’d much rather believe The Sun was the ending with the most hope.
