I’ve been using open shell for years and don’t see that changing anytime soon.

  1. The changes they’re making to Start and search are the complete opposite directions from how I’ve used them my whole life

    Search: letter to Linda

Windows: WoUlD yOu liKe tO bInG seArCH fOr LeTTeRs tO lIndA

They’re trying to copy Apple so bad, if they’re doing that might as well make search god Damm useful like Mac does. In Mac I can type anything into spotlight and till find the file among 2 tb worth of data, stupid windows can’t even do that

I never use the start menu anymore. Search box, and then I either just click one of my top apps, or type the first three letters of whatever I need. Click.

Big fan of explorerpatcher for 11.

That and the registry updates (re: websearch removal) make it basically what I want.

  5. SlowReverseBeeping

I just want a vertical lefthand side bar back.

  6. frogmicky

I just moved my start menu where it belong on the left lol.

  7. Grimspoon

New start menu is fucking useless. Completely un-customizable. At least in 10 you could organize and create categories in 11; nothing

Just watched blade runner today and I still can’t get over how good it is

I do kinda prefer the Windows 10 look but I haven’t bothered trying to change it because superficial change sometimes feels nice.

  10. HowSoonIsMeow-

I use search for just about everything these days. Come a long way since Start > Program Files

Me on win10 with 10yo pc, certainly not seeing it change anytime soon either.

I´m running this right here rig with oldschool W7 with even older school WinXP style.

My work laptop was modified too as “far back” as I could…

the stupid middle button thingy is like sitting on the middle console in your car…
I don´t drive an Egoista or BAC Mono^^

  14. Just give me the option to revert everything to Windows 98 mode. Uncomplicated gray and blue with zero frills. You opened Start, and all of it was given to you bare and plain. There were no questions about what you were clicking on.

    Take me home

    To a place

    I belong

    WINDOWS XP

  16. With alot of screwing around you can get it pretty close, disabling the Bing search, and customizing the menu I’ve got mine pretty close.

I like the win10 style one but that’s because I grew up with win10 mainly

At this point, if I ever ~~upgrade~~ downgrade from W10 to W11, it seems I will be wasting tons of RAM running third-party tools to adapt its horrendous UI to a usable state.

  19. W10 start menu is my favorite. I love that I was able to create Groups for my shortcuts right on there. I have one for launchers, one group for stand-alone game shortcuts, I have one for my editing softwares, I have a group for my streaming software, ect ect. It’s so nice being able to organize things. I dread w11 start menu
