Spicy pillows, its a fire hazard, dispose properly and get new one. In case you can’t afford new one, still dispose it immediately. If you’re lucky some laptops turn on with charger plugged in without the battery.

Ok first you need to drain those air gaps using something conductive stab through the battery to drain the air. /s … then smooth it out this will improve the heat in the immediate vicinity of the battery by raising it to well over a couple hundred degrees
I saw this a lot working in IT. It’s a good idea to get it replaced as soon as you can realistically. I’ve seen them be used for a couple of months though
