I have noticed a few instances of this. There’s a conversation with Judy that also has noticeably different audio quality even if it sounds like the same voice actor. I am also curious about this.

A bug. Present from launch and never fixed for some reason.

I noticed this the other night. Seems like an error.

The bug is in the subtitles. The 1st guy is talking but the surgeon who gives you the blade finishes the sentence.

I think it’s a bug. I think it’s only in English dub cuz I never encountered it while playing with a dub native to me

I figured he had some kind of voice modification cyberware, and he changed his voice to sound more sincere or whatever.

They added a voice line to indicate the reward sometime after release, but I would hazard a guess that the original voice actor was unavailable to record the line. So they had someone else do it.
Sometimes ugly fixes get the job done.

This is worse than the Misty voice change when she is telling you about the new cards in Dog Town. I finished the Night City and the Dog Town cards at the same time so she told me about the original cards as Misty then the others as Misty from Boston.

Back in 1.0, that voice line didn’t exist. Neither did the iconic icon on the blade right there. The convo just ended with “Here”. They added it later, and apparently either couldn’t get (or couldn’t bother to get) the same voice actor. I think it was added around 1.2, but it’s hard to remember.

I just figure it was a tip-off that the dude who hired you was in disguise the whole time. The entire rest of the op is off the books and against protocol (i.e. no fixer) so it makes sense that whoever hired you was using the advantages of prosthetics to disguise themselves. They just shifted to a new – perhaps their real – voice at the end as a kind wink to you that something more had happened than you realized.

My theory is that since it’s one of the gaggle of NPCs throughout the game with the same pitched down voice, they added the extra line but forgot to apply the pitch to it.

Why do I feel like it’s Vergil?

As others said, been there since launch. Very weird that it didn’t get fixed. [Also, they didn’t fix the 2020s Arasaka Tower logo being misaligned during Love Like Fire either](https://youtu.be/d__vx-710gw?si=0MZetn4efkKZ1PDc&t=234), and it’s pretty visibly misaligned, showing the 2077 logo sticking out from under the 2020 one slightly.
I reported this bug like a year ago, and got a reply telling me it was a known issue. What gives? If it’s a known issue, then why has it been in since launch, and still wasn’t addressed with PL? Was it so hard to slightly adjust that one bit, which is already an addon to the 2077 tower model anyway? I love this game, and 2.0 and PL were literal *and* figurative gamechangers, but holy shit, how did so many other things get improved while these obvious and well known issues didn’t?

In any interaction with Misty involving Phantom Liberty (New tarot cards, etc.), she sounds like she’s from New Jersey. It’s ever so slight, but obvious enough to bug me, as I’m certain it’s the same voice actress.
