old CPU vs old GPU

“sorry, this game needs mesh shaders”

Isn’t that essentially the whole DX “dilemma”?

The thing that has existed ever since GPUs existed?

  2. Meme so bad, even engineers and pcb designers cringed…

  3. Drakowicz

I know this is a joke but cmon. The 1600$ gpu (3090) from 3 years ago is anything but obsolete.

very nice, let’s see what content creators think about this.

Was still using an i7-4820k quad-core 7 years after I got my desktop (and 9 years after it launched lol). Only thing it had trouble with was emulating Switch, PS3 and Xbox360 games.

    True lol

Good luck running ARK ASA on a RTX 3070 or lower

  7. largeanimethighs

my 4690k is still doing fine 8 years later

  8. my gtx 970 is still going strong after 8 years, unlike my i5 4790k

  9. QuantumQuantonium

People who think like this complain that cities skylines 2 gets 5 fps on their PC with a 4090, a 2c/4t high end CPU from 2014, and 8 GB ram

  10. Are we really talking about ***old*** CPUs? old CPUs would become obsolete in 6-12 months after release, especially those Pentiums 2-3-4.

The thing is that nowadays CPU market is stagnant with +5%/year while the GPU market still have something to improve, but it wasn’t always like this. And honestly I would thank all gods this is the case: if we stopped with morrowind’s level of graphics I would be very sad. The problem with gamedevs that spend this power for cutting dev costs and releasing half-baked products but jokes on them, GPU isn’t guilty game studios are asses.

Ive never had a single problem at 1080p75hz with my r5 2600 + used 1080ti for the last 5 years.

  12. AlwaysUltra1337

bro im still rocking a 3770K with a 1650 it handles anything i throw at it at 1080p perfectly fine

If intel didn’t gimp CPU progress for years I’m sure the bottom part of the meme would be used for that.

  14. difused_shade

So basically CPUs have less gen leap than GPUs?

  15. JarlJarl

Saying you’re young without saying you’re young

  16. Kryo8888

    I mean, my 7700k, even if OC’d, will still lose to a hundred-dollars 12100/13100

  17. ImBuckAndWeGonFuck

Gonna keep my 9900kf for a few more years, its still decent.

  18. xdthepotato

My rtx 2060 though fairly new runs really well

  19. Safe-Key-1115

Man if you want to tell me you have no idea what the workload difference between a CPU and GPU is, tell me you made this meme.

    Go buy a Playstation, they’re like $500
