
I’m having extreme problems finding a stable overclock with my 12700k on an ASUS Prime Z690P D4. This is for gaming.
I’ve read so many reddit posts, so many overclock.com threads and seen so many youtube videos and it keeps getting more confusing. Some tips and recommendations seem contradictory.

To keep this post short and to the point, no matter what I try I can’t seem to create a simple stable minimal overclock and try to improve it from there.
* 12700K
* CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro SL 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C18 (seems to be a b-die but in white)
* NH-D15 with only one fan
* Asus Prime Z690-d P4
* Seasonic Focus PX-750W 80+ Platinum

* BIOS fully updated, Intel ME fully updated.
* CMOS reset right after the BIOS updates.
* Reset UEFI to defaults.
* p-cores:
* set “sync all cores” causes cinebench crash at pretty much any p-core: 49, 50, 51, 52
* OR set “by core usage”, setting 1-core,2-core at 51, 3-core, 4-core, 5-core at 50, 6-core, 7-core and 8-core at 49
* set fixed v-core at 1.25, 1.3, 1.35 or even 1.4
* disable e-cores
* Multicore enhancement – remove all limits (90C) (Auto, enabled, disabled, disabled without limits doesn’t seem to do anything except allow the CPU to reach 100C)
* Setting “Ring down bin” as auto, enabled or disabled doesn’t matter.
* LLC @ Level 7 (maximum is 7)

I’m simply stuck. What seems to be the problem here?
* CPU is shit?
* PSU?
* Cooler? (reddit says it is outdated for 12th generation, but bluescreens during benchmarks tell me the cooler isn’t an issue YET…)
* Motherboard settings I haven’t noticed?

About V/F – don’t know what to do about it. Several videos don’t even talk about it, other videos go too in depth and I get just confused to what I should do.
Mobo has weird information about cpu voltages:
* BCLK Aware Adaptive Voltage (default: auto) Haven’t touched this, read somewhere it might cause some (irreversable?) issues
* Actual VRM Core Voltage – Setting here 1.3, 1.35 or 1.4 doesn’t actually affect HWiNFO or XTU voltages but it also causes bluescreens. So wtf does this do? Recently I just leave it on Auto
* Global Core SVID Voltage – Setting this to 1.3, 1.35 or 1.4 seems to affect HWiNFO/XTU V-core voltages, so it must be the correct setting
* Cache SVID VOltage – not sure what this is, but read somewhere this is Adaptive V-core? Will try this later today.
* CPU System Agent Voltage – setting this doesn’t show results, also almost no one talks about this setting.
* IVR Transmitter VDD Voltage – no clue, I’ve seen some OCs with this set but it doesn’t seem to help.

Disabling e-cores and setting Ring down bin to disabled, setting min and max ration 37-48s seem to reduce heating but bluescreens dont seem to reduce.

All in all I’m just confused.

“Seems simple enough!” bluescreens all over.
Specifically, things I tried in XTU (Simple UI, not advanced):
UEFI configs defaulted.
Set p-cores to 47, set a vcore negative offset voltage of 0.005 > cinebench works normally as expected (temps at 84s and p-core voltages @ 1.2 or similar)
Set p-cores to 47, set a vcore negative offset voltage of 0.01 > cinebench sometimes causes bluescreen (20% chance)… WATCHDOG\_VIOLATION (temps at 80s and p-core voltages @ 1.17 or similar)
set p-cores to 48, 49 with pretty much any voltage offset -> same thing happens
set p-cores to 50, 51, 52 with negative offset voltage of 0.015 or similar -> cinebench automatically causes bluescreen 1 second after starting benchmark.

Some of the youtube videos, reddit and overclock.com threads seem useful at start but quickly I find myself unable to run any kind of overclock stable.

Any tips?
