    Fuck one drive

Last semester I made the mistake of using the onedrive app instead of the web version and I got so annoyed by it i ended up reinstalling windows to get rid of it totally

  2. Crafty87

I did a fresh install on my moms notebook coz it was slow af, only for onedrive to re-install all the crap afterwards.

  3. saltyboi6704

Only for documents and pictures, everything that goes on there also has been backed up to an external drive. Somehow haven’t had any issues with it apart from the one time I cloned a repository onto it

  4. Critical-Blinker

Hell no, it’s slow, won’t sync worth shit. NAS and copies on external drives stored offsite.

  5. Mikel_mech

I only synchronize one specific folder with one drive. For some documents. Reminder: Never Synchronize your Documents folder!

  6. RIBZisDEAD

No because it tries to save all my games there

  7. VanillaLemonDreams

    I used to.

I stopped recently because it synced my Documents, Downloads, & games folders 🙁 now it’s messed up

  8. Hooligans_

Yup! After I had a NVME m.2 fail on me, OneDrive saved all my saved games.

  9. O_to_the_o

I’d rather have no backup than a OneDrive backup

  10. Hephaestus002

only for university stuff, don’t want to lose my projects

  11. silverbullet52

Nope. I don’t trust Microsoft enough for that. Synch turned off.

My backups are on external drives kept in my basement fire safe.

I keep a few things on Google Drive so I can get at them with my phone, but that isn’t synched either.

Yes but only on a specific folder and for more important documents that I might need access on multiple devices and on the go. On laptops I disable the option to keep the files locally. On my desktop with more space I enable the option.

For mobile media like photos and videos I use syncthing with versioning that can sync to a folder on my desktop over local WiFi. Used a nas once but can’t justify leaving it on all the time given how little I use it now.

These 2 folders are periodically synced to an external hdd.

What’s sad is windows has a user option for kiosks now and still does shit like this. Like they know it’s a kiosk/bilboard … and still has pop ups.

  14. Is that Las Toscas shopping in Canning, Buenos Aires, Argentina? i used to work in one of the scaperooms in Plaza Canning

  15. SnuffleWumpkins

    I’m not a huge fan.

I was into it when they offered a reasonable amount of storage, but when they cut it back to 5gb and started hounding me to sign up i stopped using it entirely.

I understand having paid tiers, but don’t give me something then take it away. Even Google Drive gives 15gb, although that comes with its own problems.

I hate how integrated it is with windows.

I have officaly not sinced one drive on my PC only thing I stored there is my wallpaper collection whivch I have also stored in a pen drive

  17. mbspark77

Definitely not…I have ample room for backups (close to 20TB) and don’t trust external sources

  18. CopybookSpoon67

No, I only save some stuff I always need when I install a new PC.
I have a few Windows Pro licenses over my Microsoft account, so I connect to MS Services anyway.
HWinfo, Furmark, Crystaldiskinfo and cinebench for example.

  19. HaroldF155

Not really as backups, I use it for office documents so I can access them and sync progress on multiple devices.

The very first thing I do when I install a new OS is fucking uninstall onedrive

  22. denkthomas

i store the little art things i do, coding projects and the occasional minecraft world on onedrive

pretty great having access to everything wherever

  23. AlphaNepali

I use it for school since I get 5TB for free. I don’t use it for personal stuff.

  24. DenizenIV

OneDrive should capitalize on the Terry meme. BackUp Terry! Back Up! Terry!

  25. No-Statement-7372

Yes, but I also have a Backup of my OneDrive.

It doesn’t sync the default folders. It has its own little corner on my drive where it gets feed the files I want to backup or want to have access on multiple devices.

  26. Taliseian

Not only no, but fuck no.

I have a NAS and I do backups to it

  27. SendMe_SmallBoobs

At home? No. At work it’s required.

  28. Huge_Aerie2435

It is annoying, because is always wanting to update, but I never want to update it.

  29. Error83_NoUserName

Backups are backups. 3-2-1 rule. OneDrive is only one part of the 3.

  30. Yes i do. Dunno why people hate it. Backs up documents and picture when i reinstall Windows.

  31. redditineer55

What really pisses me off about one drive js that you cant sync folders outside of the one drive folder you need to have them in it else it moves them there. That is beyond dumb. Some programs dont allow for the project files to be moved.

  32. bbyyda_4desrt

One of the first things I do when installing Windows on anything, is remove OneDrive. It has only ever caused me problems.

  33. Yea

I have the free 1tb (“free”, my mother has office 365 for work and it gives to six members of the family a free tb) and i use it every time, it’s so useful imo. Also i have an automatic backup from all of the picture folders in my phone so i’m never worried about anything.
