Hdd should be relegated to storing old files at this point. No reason to run a game off of them anymore

I kinda want to play it on an HDD now cause it seems you get the OG RE4 regenerators that way.

I’m having issues in Alan’s sections with geometry not loading when switching scenes…..on an ssd
CynicalCrow_
I feel like Alan Wake gets a pass from the usual “lazy western devs” argument with how advanced everything seems to be. Difference between bad optimization and pushing tech forward
LogicalAir
That shit happens on ssd too. Well, maybe not this crazy but still

Four days ago we swapped the old Hitachi 5400 RPM 1 TB hdd on my brothers laptop with Samsung 870 Evo 1 TB Sata 3 ssd ( that is an old laptop with 7th gen Intel and Pascal gpu ) since he was complaining that how launch of the games and loading screens were taking very long.
He had one other issue with Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Audio sync issues on npc dialogs, repeated sounds, cut off sounds etc.
Since moving to ssd all of those issues vanished.
Maybe not exactly a fair comparison since that hdd was in use for 7 years and even when it was new it wasn’t a top performer but it really is necessary these days for anything a bit modern.

If your PC is below console spec in anything- upgrade it for games like this.

SSDs are at their cheapest point yet, who is even using HDDs anymore unless it’s a work computer 😂

hdd works for me, 7200rpm runs everything so far for me including games like cyberpunk; I only have to wait a bit longer for menus and textures to load in, but once they do everything is fine; lots of cheap storage too

We can all agree that HDDs are for archiving and mass storage but every game should always be running on SSDs.

That thing looks more like a sasquatch than a human.
Why wouldn’t you anyways. Why do you need to be told lol. I havnt used a HDD in more than 10 years.
Wow, lots of potato PC users here down voting. Have fun with that I guess.
same way uneducated people complained about cyberpunk or FF7R loading textures slowly while playing on 5400 or 7200rpm HDD. also old consoles.
If your using an HDD in 2023 for game storage you’re doing it wrong.
If someone is doing any “serious” gaming on a PC in 2023, they will already have a SSD
The era of the HDD is long over.
You sure that’s not just the Chinese version?
Look what they did to my boy!!!
Only a dunce would game off an HDD in 2023
Everyone is shitting on HDDs in the comments but i still store old games and roms on my 2TB 7200rpm HDD.
Play newer games on my 970 evo.
HDDs still are perfectly fine for old games and ROMs.
Well atleast the one of the sprites loaded up.

Hard disc drive gaming will always be a thing as long as there are prebuilts being purchased with then installed do too clueless buyers.

This is 5 grand oh look a hard disc drive for my games…….
