Depends on whether your want to buy and install a new motherboard or not.
At 1440p the 5800X3D will most of the time be enough to not hold back the 3080Ti.
Coming from the 5600G you’d be looking at around 30-40% faster CPU performance in games, so it’s substantial. That does not automatically translate to 30-40% faster gaming performance, of course.
That being said, if you go up to the 7800X3D you won’t have to worry about the CPU when you upgrade the GPU down the line. Though of course it’s a much more expensive option as you also need to replace the MB and RAM, whereas the 5800X3D is a drop-in upgrade for your current system.

But also a 5600g is close to a 3600x, slower than the 5600x by 15% or so
Also what is your ram kit? Not all ddr4 is made equal and ram overclocking can have some nice performance gains
If you don’t have a piece of junk mobo, I would get the 5800x3d. If you play competitive shooters, 7800x3d and go get 1000 fps in siege
I have the 5800x3d, with an RTX 4070 Ti, and it’s smashed everything I’ve thrown at it, using 1440p. Can’t go wrong with it, and will save you buying a new mobo and ram as well.
try to snipe a full kit with a 7800x3d, you will keep it for years
5800x3d in your motherboard if it supports it. No point in upgrading everything else unless you had a 4090.
You need new motherboard and ram. I’d just switch to a 5800x3D. It will be massive from the 5600G that isn’t a gaming CPU..

Just upgrade to a 5800X3D. You need to change the whole system if you switch to AM5, and it’s going to cost.
5800x3d will likely handle everything you throw at it, with a slightly cheaper CPU and no need to throw a new MOBO and memory at your computer.
Go 7800X3D if you can afford the upgrade.
I went from a Ryzen 7 2700X and considered the 5800X3D because AM4, but opted to go for the 7800X3D because it seemed like a more worthwhile upgrade. It’ll last me longer than the 5800X3D and I was able to future proof my whole system with DDR5, a new mobo, a new PSU. I already had the 7900XT.
I am going to be a 100% honest with you.
You will not notice much of a difference at all with a top tier upgrade. You are what I would call in the sweet spot. I sell and have used all the top tier shit and to be honest it’s just epeen after a point not quality of experience.
If you were my client my honest suggestion is to put that money in a deferent place and look at upgrading your sound system something most ppl completely forget about. There is a world of deference between a logitech setup vs a receiver with true speakers and then even true dolby atmos.
That is Game changing. Like it’s not even a close comparison.
Also OLEDS are legit. Look into finding a C2 tv for movies and it will blow your mind how much better your experience is. A C2/c3 + dolby atmos is just mind blowing. I personally pulled the trigger over 2 years ago and still to this day my wife and I stop and go Holy crap that was so worth it.
Depends in price. 5800x3d makes your system live longer with your current MOBO (if supported, pcie 4.0 being plusplus), but if you can get Mobo + rams and that CPU with somewhat same price (im having doubts on that depending where and how). Your current mobo has AM4 but you need AM5 to run 7800x3d

If you are close enough to a micro center then the combo deal they have are really good. It’s all 3 just don’t forget cooler if you get 7800x.
A 5800x3d is the best way to go. it is much more cost effective as you don’t need a whole new mobo and ram and is also a much easier upgrade if your worried about that. One thing people forget is that the 5600g forces pcie3, so it will be a very substantial upgrade to go 5800x3d, especially considering you already have a very solid system otherwise
If you’re going to go AM5, I’d wait until the next generation of AMD cpu’s. There currently isn’t enough of a difference between the 5800x3D and the 7800x3D to justify buying a new motherboard, unless you don’t have an AM4 board, are going to use the AM4 kit for a spare PC, or are planning on selling your AM4 parts.
As someone who honestly has the 3080Ti paired with a 5800X3D, I think it is amazing for a send-off to the DDR4 generation. And I also play at 2k where I feel like the CPU plays a big part. The greatest gain will undoubtedly be in 1% lows, but what I especially like is that the large cache in the 5800X3D compensates for a lot of the jank in different engines, Ala starfield etc.
In the end I got mine bundled with a game I was going to buy anyway, and a few amazon points built up so paid roughly 270 for it and felt like it was a worthy last upgrade to this Rig and it will certainly carry me past the 7800X3D generation with ease. I think it puts me in a good place for a nvidia 5000 series upgrade and maybe a next gen AMD for a DDR5 build down the road.
5800X3D if you want to be almost at the top or don’t want to spend more money than needed for new MBO, cooler, RAM and spend time replacing everything.
7800X3D if you ignore what I wrote above or you’ll find a sweet deal.
In synthetic benchmarks there’s around 18% difference, in games I’d be surprised if it was more than 10% at all. Just check recent reviews on Intel 14xxx CPUs – most of them have both in benchmark for comparison.
If keeping the 3080 ti for extended time, go 5800x3d. If you plan on upgrading to a 4090 or 50 series, go 7800x3d.
