University research PC. Can’t take the side panels off because there’s a separate FPGA board drilled into the left side panel I don’t want to disconnect.

Yeah, those are for fibre connectivity. Those are ports for sfp modules
They’re ports for SFP modules. They’re usually used for ultra high speed fiber optic connectivity
