Just got my upgrade from my 1060 in, waiting for a new PSU to arrive now. Luckily, this will fit in my case but I can see how many people were surprised by its size.It’s a 2nd hand EVGA 24GB FTW3 Ultra Gaming 3090 for those wondering.

Some of them really are. I was pleasantly surprised though when my 4070 FE arrived, and it was smaller than my RTX 2060!

Are you using it with the 6700k? That will be a bottleneck. Either way enjoy your gpu!

I’m curious about the cases that are too small. Looking at even some of the basic options, fractal pop air (not the xl), meshify c etc are large enough. The larger evga 3090’s are sub 300mm, even the more compact meshify c supports cards up to 345mm. The corsair 4000d will fit 360mm length gpus. 420mm for the lian li pc-o11 dynamic. My 3080 is 323mm. Seems they’re making cases smaller than they used to but those are just fitment dimensions from some of the more popular (100+ rated) on pc pp.
Granted my case is older, phanteks called the enthoo pro (original) a ‘full tower’ but in reality it was barely bigger than atx mid towers. Definitely nothing like a ‘full tower’ used to be. It’s only a couple inches longer than the pop air. My 3080 doesn’t even bump into the front drive trays, much less the front of the case. I think ‘full tower’ and I picture something more like the antec sx1240, 26″+ tall.
Maybe cases got over zealous trying to be too compact and only sufficient to accommodate older cards. No doubt gpu’s are getting larger but realistically shouldn’t prove a lot of difficulty to fit if the cases are more normal in size. The ones struggling seem to be on the extra small side.

Wait til you see an Asus Strix 4090 . Shits crazy add the silver bit to the right a 2nd time and add another slot in thickness

My own case could fit a (small) 3090 but none of the 4090s fit except the models that have AIO attached, and I can’t really fit the AIO anywhere either so full PC rebuild in the horizon, but decided to skip this gen due to 12VHPWR drama and melting connectors.
