That moment when gaming returns to vga levels of pixels. 640×480 makes a triumphant return!

  2. LoShadow1

I fucking hate this trend, games are released buggy and borderline unplayable even with high end hardware. WTF happened (I know it’s greed from Investors and higher up management)

Lmao yes, the new Alan Wake literally recommends 1080p with upscaler on “performance” mode, so 960×540.

I’ll say that again. 960×540 to get 60fps on MEDIUM SETTINGS, no RT, ON FUCKING 3070/6700XT.

    Like, fuck off.

It’s fucking ridiculous, games like RDR2, Cyberpunk etc. absolutely shit on these new games, visually and especially in terms of performance. Hell, CP2077 with path tracing probably runs better.

  4. they are hitting the limit of what the manufacturing node can achieve, the smaller you get the smaller the die gets, amd and intel can do chiplets that are working fine.

another problem is rt, it takes a huge space in the die, and even if you double the area the performance won’t double ( the scaling is not linear), again with die size shrink that’s another problem.

that’s why they are turning to up-scaling, and they are betting on it and the majority of gamers to buy their products without thinking twice because they are NVIDIA.

enjoy your 360 upscaled to 4k soon.

It’s not really the end of the world, if the unoptimised games don’t sell and the optimised ones do then money will make the change for us.

If people still buy them then it’s our fault for enabling it.

If we aren’t playing the new stuff then is there one among us that doesn’t have a mountainous backlog at this point?

all games, every single one, should be developed with the goal that the game can reach 60fps, high settings, at 1440p, with the current 3rd gen of cards.

We need a fucking gaming union.

  7. XWasTheProblem

I’m half-praying that upscaling turns out to have some unbreakable wall at some point, and ends up being basically a dead-end after a few years of everybody seemingly choking on that DLSS dick.

There has to be a better way to solve this problem than ‘force run your games at shit settings and then use your hardware/ML to pretend it’s on whatever the user selected’.

Guys, just don’t buy the latest released game and surf on the wave with a pirate boat.

Don’t support studios that don’t respect you.

  9. faverodefavero

3070 is now a 540p GPU, and 3080 is a 720p one. Welcome to the new generation of graphics. You need a 4090 to run 900~1000p comfortably.

  10. faverodefavero

We need some sort of institution like 80+ and Cybenetics for PSUs but for PC games to certify how games actually run and what are the true hardware pieces needed to run the game at, say, 1440p native High (not Ultra) reaching stable 60FPS.

  11. throwerzs3

I hope these fcking game studios go under.

  12. Rukasu17

You lot didn’t use this 540p talk back when dlss was free performance (even if the game ran lile shit without it, looking at you control)

  13. RafaelSeco

I went back to cracking/pirating games. Not because I don’t have the money, but because they don’t deserve it.

Release a finished game for once and I’ll gladly dump my cash on it.

  14. SlapbASS4211

Nah, i’m still good with old game. Still grinding parasite eve, final fantasy 3 on my psp without issue. Thinking of selling my 3080 because with game these day, 3080 is barely enough to afford it

  15. ostrieto17

Vote with your wallet, haven’t bought a AAA or AA game in almost a decade.

  16. Beneficial_Fix_1059

I get it but so many ppl still buy the shit, so like what can we even do

  17. Graph_Bober_IV

Just stop buying bad games bruh, and if you want to try – there is torrent

  18. re_BlueBird

Based played 1440p on my gtx1070, gtx980ti, but my current 3070 not giving me good experience without DLSS, shitty reality.

  19. THE-REAL-BUGZ-

Yea my 2080Ti has turned into a 1080p GPU. I stupidly bought a 1440p 180Hz monitor and now I pretty much have to use DLSS and a Gsync frame cap to play games. The 2080Ti is on par with the 3070 as well. I wanted to upgrade to the 4080 when they first dropped because they were around $800-850 when they first came out, now i’m having to look at the 4070Ti which even with the tiny bus width it’ll be a good performance lift.

  20. Vhirsion

Devs are shoving the optimization to the consumer by “designing the game with upscaling in mind” and requiring beefy hardware.

  21. traderoqq

This one is good one, sad sad truth unfortunately

  22. Me: Needing a new GPU since my 2070S has problems.

Can’t immediately afford it. Taking a lawn to get 3070 for 680€, since it’s the best I can find in my country for my use case scenario.

Also me: will pay it off in 2024, January.

    Me again: 🤡🤡🤡

  23. FrancMaconXV

It’s cuz yall are trying to use ultra settings on every game

  24. Gaming resolution is only one aspect of visual quality.

  25. Sayaka__

I would say please just stop buying games that run like shit and need upscaling as a crutch but then I look what happened after horse armor and realise it’s pointless. Too many people just can’t wait for a decent review before buying any new game no matter how crappy it is.

  26. Firesw0rd

Vote with your wallet, stop buying AAA games at full price.

  27. andrea_ci

and people keep buying games at day one and even preordering them.

and people keep using sh*tty upscaling.

  28. abyrt5704

Did u draw this on the project zomboid map?

  29. DreiImWeggla

I vaguely remember the 2080ti being advertised as a 4K gaming card.

    Lol

  30. Ashamed_Economy3010

Tell me you know nothing without saying it.

  31. defenem_73

DLSS is so good but like many good things it’s now being abused. Developers be like screw optimization and just slap on DLSS and call it a day.

  32. Secret-Assistance-10

I’m already doing my job on this, the last game I bought was cyberpunk 2077 over a year ago…

  33. I kinda feel like ever since 4k capable GPUs came out, the devs must have thought to not optimise their games, because they know that these games will run with atleast 60 fps with 99% power of these cards. They just have a lot of power to compensate for the lack of optimisation.

  34. The problem is that we have reached a point where increasing detail is not very noticeable but does need a lot of compute power. It’s not early 2000 anymore where there were massive leaps in fidelity each year.
