Glitching Queen recently released a video where she discussed a secret “wonder weapon” within Revelations code. The weapon resembles the XM-53 and shoots a purple keeper skull, similar to the Demon/Portal Bow from Der Eisendrache. This really got me thinking:
1.
Before revelations was released, Jason Blundell told NoahJ456 that the Apothican Servant wasnt upgradable (On Shadows of Evil). This was a very vague hint that it would be upgradable in the future, but we didn’t know to what degree, or on what map. Seeing as Revelations was the planned finale, it seemed very likely it would be within that map.
2.
The XM-53 and the Apothican Servant share the same reticle. As soon as I drew that connection, I started to wonder if during development, they would use the XM-53 as a “placeholder” or use its model, and shape the new wonder weapon around that. An example for this might be The Sparrow (Specialist Weapon from BO3 Multiplier) and the Wrath of the Ancients (The Main Wonder Weapon on Der Eisendrache). I also found it interesting they left the part of Der Eisendrache in the map which included the four pedistoles where we upgraded our bows (The Undercroft). It might have been possible at one point to fuse the elemental powers from the Wrath of the Ancients, onto the Apothican Servant. Especially since we already see one of the bows powers being displayed on a XM-53 within the files.
3.
Revelations was the first map in BO3 to feature a core part of its Easter Egg on its build menu. In previous maps, the build menu was designated for “quest” items (Not “Main Quest” items). For instance, the four bows on Der Eisendrache, the KT-4 on Zetsubou, the Dragon Shield on Gorod Krovi, etc. None of the maps before Revelations feature a portion of its build menu catered towards a part of its Easter Egg. Every item within the build menu was something you could either hold, or spawn in (Wonder Weapon, Shield, Civil Protector, and the Skulls and Dragon Egg directly relate to acquiring the specialist on their maps).
4.
The four collectables within the build menu on Revelations relate to the elements we acquired during Der Eisendrache. We clearly have a Fire, Lightning, and Void collectable, and the one often referred to as “Dark”, could be perceived as “Spirit”. In previous BO3 maps, collectables used for Easter Egg steps never showed up on the build menu. An example of this might be the cogs from Zetsubou, or the fuses on Der Eisendrache. Revelations is the only odd one with half of its Build Menu being reserved for its Easter Egg. The Apothican servant might have had a fire, void, lightning, and spirit variant planned at one point.
Conclusion:
I think it’s very possible that the four spots within Revelation’s build menu were directly correlated to upgrading the Apothican Servant at one point. Treyarch clearly had very big plans with the map before release, and it’s possible these four variants could have been cut during development. I honestly wish this weren’t the case, or at least the current wonder weapons were the “original” plan. Adding the same Apothican Servant from Shadows with a pack-a-punch and the Thunder Gun seems lazy. I love the atmosphere Revelations has, and I really enjoy my time playing the map. However, I keep thinking about what we could have been given, instead of fully enjoying what we currently have (which are just reskins of previous features). I love the map, it’s easy as heck, but it’s always fun to play. In that regard, Treyarch did just fine.
Side Note: I really do enjoy Revelations, and I know my conclusion seemed a bit judgemental. I just can’t stop thinking how cool it would have been if we had four elemental weapons on the grand finale of BO3.

Sounds very far-fetched. Apothicon Servant is OP as it is and now imagine 4 of those with different elementals that do what? Deal even more infinite damage?
