Hey guys, I just finished assembling my first setup components (monitor, monitor arm, monitor table, desk mat, etc…) now all I need is to decorate!

However, something still feels… off about my setup, especially compared to online setups I see which has the basic components like mine but still feels wayy better. Is it the scuffed table? It has been in my house for 10+ years and still going strong, so I don’t feel like replacing it :/

I’m thinking about putting an RGB light strip at the back edge of the table. Unfortunately, the edge is curved (similar to how it looks like in the front edge). Any ideas on how to overcome this, or a better alternative for (back)lighting?

On the side notes, I was hoping you guys could give some decoration ideas. I’m planning to put a desk clock, some figurines, a small plant,….

Also, yes I am aware of the horrendous cable management. I’m still working on it

  1. I think it’s just nice. I wouldn’t change a thing.

It looks realistic, instead of something created for looking good in a picture.

Did you move into a 1970’s courthouse? Needs a US flag on a pole against the white wall.

I feel I could go back in time and interview Ted Bundy here, in Colorful Colorado.

(just kidding. I love how my chair feels on hardwood, since I moved my desk. I just hope it holds up.)

Oh… and try some Scott’s Liquid Gold on that door and wood trim. Makes it look like new for over a month.

Looks great friend! You seem to be on the right track with future plans. Make each change deliberate and enjoy the process. As for the lights. Perhaps stick them an inch or two down from the rounded edge. I had lights on a past setup place like that (on the “flat” of the desk back) and it work out perfectly. Cheers!

I’d change the desk personally, only because I’ve only gotten mad at desks that are built for office use. The drawers to the right/left only ever get in the way.
