Creating a new save for Lucy build to prepare for PL, I found the monowire to be pretty underwhelming? Am I doing something wrong?

Same. I’ve switched to Mantis, which feels stronger now, until I can find a way to make the Mono stronger. Was a fun weapon.

  2. SeptumusDio

Yeah monowire is much weaker now, from what I understand they unlinked it from Blades so those bonuses no longer apply.

  3. Asura_Slothingway

Same i find gorilla/mantis more fun and stronger

Yeah it’s definitely not OP like before, which is really disappointing. Applying reset optics to it can be entertaining though, as well as the finishers. I sometimes use it to finish off any stragglers after frying everyone’s brain with negative thoughts.

It’s just a netrunner tool now, and seeing how netrunning needs no tools at all to just outright kill anything, yeah.

Monowire needs to be used together with quickhacks. So do overheat+weapon glitch and clap them. Monowire is so strong I started using it instead of a shotgun in my lategame netrunner build because the reloading the shotgun simply took too long.

I’m playing a blade oriented character now, and mantis blades feel weak.

Maybe it’ll be better when I get higher tier blades.

  8. Bort_Bortson

I’m using it as a netrunner but it’s definitely stealth and 1 on 1 for the finisher but no better than just clubbing them over the head with a pipe or 2 slashes with a sword.

Sonic blast, weapon malfunction, cripple movement, slash slash finish

It has some early game combo potential with quick hacks, however later on quick hacks, with over clock + perks and cyberware will clear everything with ease on very hard.

ok corpo gonk I use the gorilla arms like a moths fuckin nc legend

Once you unlock its phantom liberty relic perks, it starts coming into its own pretty hard. Being able to upload weapon glitch with a heavy attack and then spreading it to a whole group of grouped enemies with subsequent light attacks is extremely effective and fun, and all of its ram restoring effects are very nice as well

You really have to build around it much more unfortunately – talents alone aren’t enough, there is a drive that increases its damage out put (can’t recall which) when low on ram, and then for side stats can focus on electric damage and melee damage bonuses (not 100% if they both work together) and use the electric monowire… I’ve moved away from it, gone full monke instead.

  13. kimbleeiscool

Yes definitely same with mantis blades in my opinion

  14. jonas_64

I never really used the monowire before the 2.0 Update and PL DLC, but now whith the new Relic Skilltree the Electric monowire at 5+ is really fun to use and also roughly comparable to the damage output of the mantis blades. I don’t even use a Cyberdeck with it. I mostly just use the charged R2 Relic- Attack that Uploads a Control-Quickhack which disables the movement of the enemy. This can bei pretty OP with Elite Enemys and Bosses.
And If i aim for the head with a charged Attack, it almost always slices it off.
So in my Opinion the monowire ist just as OP as the other cyberwares in my opinion (with the Relic Skills)
And you can also just use it with Iconic sandevistan and it still slaps, which is awesome!

Using it with data tunneling from phantom liberty which adds a quick hack on a heavy attack combined with netrunning is insanely powerful

  16. NonLiving4Dentity69

Mantis blades seem to be a much more viable choice now

  17. Naw, it’s got its place. It’s not meant to be used on its own. Hitting enemies to get ram back or going into an execution to save health, while using hacks to kill everybody

  18. imaybeacatIRl

I love the gorilla hands, honestly. Something awesome about a wee waif of a thing punching baddies to death.

  19. Exodifex

Using monowire to upload cripple movement is pretty good against bosses.

  20. SirTariq_StPat

They were the strongest weapon in the game in 1.6 now they’re just meh besides the finishers

  21. BattleCrier

I dont know… having a quickhack on monowire.. monowire spreading certain quickhacks among hit group…

and well… netrunning is just playing god once you get enough ram and overclock anyways..

Monowire recharging ram.. also finishers with it..

But it seems like its not a blade nor melee weapon.. at least perkwise… so it wont be a main source of damage for sure.. as a control / recharge tool.. yes, still good.. (and stacking Cyberware malfunction by monowire can really help in some fights).

  22. DifficultyVarious458

with netrunning its finishing tool to restore RAM and apply status effect not as main weapon.

  23. zanuffas

Damn monowire is broken. You can literally use finishers that make you invincible and suicide hack for 4 ram

Yes you can make netrunner build thay only uses quickhacks but that is boring, and monowire gives some variety

  24. ShearAhr

It’s not you it is weak. Its biggest issue is its attack speed. It does similar damage to everything else melee wise but it’s attack speed it shit.

  25. hyrulianwhovian

You got to use it right, as in using it to trigger finishers/spread quickhack/recharge ram. It’s very fun.

  26. Paves911

I think it works best with a netrunner build. I’m a netrunner and my monowire destroys. I can upload and spread my hacks just by hitting people with the wire and it recharges my ram so I can run around just slashing everyone with wire and uploading hacks without really worrying much about the cost

  27. It’s OP as hell with PL what are you talking about?

  28. Like17Badgers

it’s not release 2077’s Monowire that invalidated every other weapon in the game, but it’s still very strong. the big thing it’s got going for it is the AoE letting you shred through several enemies at once. I’d also suggest one of the elemental variants cause you swing so fast and hit so many enemies that you’ll proc it constantly and effectively CC down targets with fire or acid.

I will say the Phantom Liberty skill where you get this big overhead attack and it can pump a quickhack into the target… kinda sucks. here’s a weapon who’s whole gimmick is it’s being a fast blender over a huge AoE… here’s a slow charge up attack that has a small AoE that wants the target to stay alive so you can spread the quick hack to other enemies.
