Work-from-home editor for a newspaper. My house has a dedicated office but it’s “open concept” all over (no door), so I had to throw out my original setup and move into the back corner of a tiny bedroom. The other side of the room is the guest bed. When people visit, I’ll be finding a laptop and moving to the bathroom.
The table was $70 ish from Sam’s Club, the chair was from Facebook Marketplace. The left monitor was $5 at Goodwill. The lamp is a Dazor from the ’50s that I inherited from my grandfather… he worked in the Wichita (Kansas) aerospace industry from the ’50s till about 1980… I can only imagine the action it saw. The right monitor is a cheap 4k that was a return at the local Best Buy. Keyboards, main is a 1987 IBM Model M, the one next to it is a modded bluetooth Keychron. On the rack is a 1984 IBM Model F-AT board and under it is an IBM industrial Model M from the late ’80s. I have some other mid-’80s Model Ms and I cycle through them, but the 1987 is my favorite.
The mic is an RE20 which I use to record promo spots for a radio station owned by the paper. When I’m recording, I have heavy foam padding I put up around the table to make a makeshift recording booth.
