    I have been using 2 X Trident Z5 16GB sticks of DDR5-5600MHZ RAM with the XMP profile 1 enabled at 1.2V.

    Recently I bought two more 16GB sticks of the exact same model (even identical timings of 36-36-36-76) and I can get it to boot and post, even play a game but eventually crashes by BSOD or freezing.

    I have an Asus Z690 P-Wifi DDR5.

    The motherboard has always been finnicky to get it to co-operate causing issues involving defaulting changed settings and changing boot orders etc.

    Is it even possible to run 4 X 16GB of my Trident Z5 5600MHz? ASUS don’t list 4 X 16GB as compatible in the motherboard manual, but there’s 4 dimms so…?

    I previously tried using another 2 X 16GB set of Trident Z5 6000MHz (36 36 36 89) with the same issue so I returned them.

    Specs:
    I7-12700KF
    ASUS Z690 P Wifi DDR5 (MOBO)
    ROG Strix 4090
    Existing 2 X 16GB Trident Z5 DDR5 5600MHz (36 36 36 76)
    1300W PSU
    All in a custom coolant loop

    I am an enthusiast and don’t really even have basic level of knowledge regarding how to deal with RAM when overclocking, only the CPU and GPU.

    Please and thankyou for the help in advance. I know I should just buy 2 X 32GB sticks but since this is what I’ve got, is there a way?

    I’ve tried XMP1 and XMP2 with no luck on stability and errors in OCCT. On two sticks only no crashes or errors or stability issues.

    that’s your problem. Convert to 2x32gb sticks and you’ll find that’s easy to run. ddr4 and ddr5 are very difficult on memory controllers for some reason. Seen 4xddr5 going as low as 4200 just to run. The only scenario where you want something like that is a workstation that simply can’t fit enough ram in 2 sticks.

    EDIT: I’ve checked the prices and you can get decent 2x32gb 6000cl30 for 30% less than I’ve paid for 2×16 year ago during am5 launch.
