It’s a visual bug, happens with my Bionic Joints every upgrade but when you actually confirm it, you’ll see the upgraded numbers. It’s annoying since you can’t see what you are getting but it will be an upgrade regardless.

There’s a perk under Tech that in addition to giving you options while upgrading, I want to say it might also fix this bug. Try it out:
Chipware Connoisseur
When upgrading cyberware, you can choose from two stat modifier options. A third option is available at Tier 3 and higher.

Because the upgrade is not displaying the actual final total after perk points and such. It’s not actually less.

I mean, you said it yourself, you know you aren’t the only person, so you must have seen other posts. On all the other posts, they say it’s a visual bug, but let’s say no one said that. Why wouldn’t you just quicksave and upgrade it to see for yourself if it turned out better?

Isn’t actually a decrease. The first includes passives from perks you have, once you upgrade the new one will include those too. It’s passives not being included for upgrades that does this, Think mostly from License to chrome.
I’ve had this all 25 out of 94 hours of my current playthrough, and it WILL adjust itself after upgrading to the correct better value and be higher than what you currently have.
No question about it, it’s no maybe or but, it will be higher than your current one. It’s just not including passive buffs before actually upgrading it.

This bug has been addressed in this sub over 100 separate posts now… Not an exaggeration… it just looks like that but it will actually upgrade…

If you look at your armor rating over the right, it’ll show that you gain armor regardless of what the upgrade says

i have never seen ANY Tier x to Tier x+, increase stats on anything, ever. if there is an example i need to see it to believe it.

I’ve had quite a few that when going from one tier to the next (let’s say from purple to gold) and the stats get worse even though the cyberware is increasing. Sometimes, by a significant amount. Annoying
