This FX-6300 has been my nightmare for the last three months of using it. Loud fans, melting point temperatures and the potency of a two-core in everyday tasks. Now that I “upgraded” to an i5-3470, what should I do with it?

Hence, I want to see some good solutions for this. Every sort of idea is welcome, from creating an epoxy decoration from this guy to using it as an overclocking toy. Every opinion counts.

Light it on fire, fyi though it might actually enjoy it.

No, not the fx 6300! I’ve never changed cpus faster than when I got one of these. It was so bad.

Pimp chain/ring/wrist strap, nothing says Chick magnet like an FX 6300!

edit also the option to mount it on your case to display it’s glory to all.

i loved this processor so much that I replaced hard drives and upgraded my video card in order to solve the stuttering caused by this processor.

donate it to a place that builds computers and gives them out for free. (preferably a place that builds PCs for schools, as no gaming PC should have to suffer the FX-6300’s false promises of gaming functionality.)

Remove heatshield, replace with nitrogen chamber

Mount it to the wall as a warning to other CPUS.

These chips overclock full pot LN2. Possible 8ghz chip in your lap.

Or give it away to some kid less fortunate that needs an upgrade.

It’s a decent paperweight. No lags, no melting point temperatures, and no electricity consumption.

You can start arguments over how many cores it has xD

The bulldozer was my first cpu I bought when I built my first PC. It was the FX 8150. I didn’t have the problems everyone else complained of though so I enjoyed the cpu. I even learned how to overclock on it because it was “unlocked”. Oh, the good old days

Heat your house and/or unpack .zip files at a formerly competitive rate.

You can still use it to build your own NAS. And if your temps were getting out of control that is not the CPU’s fault but your cooling solution was as fault. Thermal paste does not have an indefinite life span and has to be replaced every couple to few years if used or not. The paste will eventually dry out and lose all performance characteristics.
