Little bit older of a build but seems like it could have some potential. Thinking about an upgrade to a 3060 or 3060ti for the gpu with a slight bottleneck from the processor. Maybe sell the 970 to counter some cost? Wanted to see what you guys think before I pulled the trigger.

I’d say nay unless you really need a computer for $150
Hard nay
That’s good hardware for the price. Just know that you will essentially need to start from scratch when it comes to upgrading in the future.
Your plan seems solid. Slap in a modern mid tier GPU and ride it out until it no longer meets your needs.
The case is around 100 bucks brand new. I’ve seen used ones for 50 to 80 bucks.
$150 is a fair price for that PC. At the same time it’s still a $150 PC so you’re not going to get a whole of performance from it.
If you need a $150 PC then go for it, but I wouldn’t buy it planning to upgrade parts, you may as well start from scratch.
I say yay. 970 is $40, 4790k is $65, that mobo is about $60, psu is around $40, ram is another $20, ssd is $20-30 maybe. Case is another $30 or so id say. I cant find the same case second hand but it was $70 new, gotta be half price now. If you part it out you can make a profit, assuming everything works
fair price. u can always offer less.
my friend runs i7 4770k with rtx 3070 so 3060 or 3060ti would be fine. he def doesnt get the full 3070 performance at 1440p. but its good enough for 50-60fps in most modern games with no dlss.
id probably aim for 3060 12gb $250
Dude this is basically e-waste at this point. Don’t waste your money. Someone is just trying to offload their rubbish.
It’s a good price but I wouldn’t buy it just because it’s quite outdated you won’t be able to fully enjoy modern games on it.
my old computer was that spec, I replaced it 2020. Its now relegated to an unraid server
depends what you want to do
that GPU did it for quite some time for me but I got it about 13 years ago or something
Nay
This PC will comfortably play some lower demanding games at 1080p. A friend of mine had a slightly worse system and we played tons of Overwatch 2, league of legends, and the occasional round of zombies on call of duty black ops 3. Worked great, if your looking to test the waters on PC gaming this is a great choice!
Its e-waste.
I’d say Yay. Games upto 2020 should run fine.
Unless you are in desperate need of a pc it’s a waste of money. Save up like $300-400 and get something decent used
Of you’re low on cash and interested in playing older titles, hell yeah 150 is a great deal!
However, I would not invest a single dollar in upgrading it. So use as is, or look for something with a more modern CPU.
This was my exact PC in 2015 lol $150 seems fair, it isn’t going to run things very well anymore though
That’s a fair price but I still wouldn’t buy it. That would be a great PC in its time but you can’t really upgrade anything in it and it would struggle with any newish titles.
It’s really outdated, but for 150$ it’s still worth it. Just don’t expect to run all the latest games on it.
Resell parts for better price
Definitely a Nay
You need to know the motherboard’s name, then see if compatible with newer GPU and CPU
Definitely a great deal, in my country I’ve seen computers a good less powerful for more than 250. You can part it out and keep the case and PSU. Most of these takes that say it’s a bad deal are genuinely garbage takes (literally most of them have a 3080 or above) I’ve been looking around for parts for my own system and for 150 you cannot do any better than this. I would suggest an am4 Ryzen 2600 swap if you found a good deal and sell off the Mobo
it’s good for the price. that processor alone goes for $60-70 usd on ebay used (best cpu of it’s socket, so inflated price)
in terms of upgradeability, don’t expect much. a 3060 (ti or not) will cause more than a “slight” bottleneck.
To be fair, I was running with a 970 and the same processor until just a couple of years ago and it was still pretty damn good at 1080p lower settings. Don’t expect to play anything new on it above 30fps but it’s a decent computer for the price.
For a case and ssd it’s OK.
For onefiddy, it’s a yay
The cpu is an old legend… so…
Use it for NAS
That’s actually a reasonable price for an old box
