She already was very self-destructive before the FIA abused her lust for messing with the other dark side of the net. Think of a corrupted Jedi from Star Wars.!< And Reed has some serious emotional pain, watch his micro-expressions at the bar before roulette. Trust me, he hates doing the morally wrong things every second of his life. I can respect such a person. With both these details. Each character is morally grey for their own reasons. >!Songbird is addicted to the dark sides of the net and blames others for it. Reed is too loyal for his own good, almost died for the FIA before. Making this black or white is so unfair. Somi is a deeply complicated character who weaves in and out of V’s own path for survival, just a lot more realistic and afraid with no other option in front of them. It was a difficult choice but I went with Reed in the end and not out of anger for Somi and her plot twist.

I’m with Songbird. This is a cyberpunk game. So Mi is a rebel, while Reed represents authority. Myers is making Songbird do NUSA’s dirty job at the cost of her life and sanity. So Mi is desperate; she doesn’t want to stay enslaved by NUSA or die for Myers. That’s a human motivation that I can sympathize with.
Reed is a company man. He will kill or sell out anyone for NUSA. He’s a retired superspy, heavily armed, and in control of his life; he did not have to do anything he didn’t want to. Myers had to beg him to return to the fold. Reed will absolutely kill or betray anyone that stood in NUSA’s way. NUSA is only less bad than Arasaka within the broader setting, and barely. He can and will sell So Mi down river if it’s in NUSA’s best interests.
At the end of the day, V is a *punk*. It’s up to the player to decide if V really should be working for the man. But if I have to choose, I don’t want to shed blood for NUSA.

I was naive. >! I wanted to help So Mi but I wanted to trust Reed too, he told me he wanted to help her and I wanted to help him do it on his terms. I thought maybe we could get everyone home. I was fucking wrong. When So Mi asked me to pull the cord I did it in the end, it was the only way to let Songbird fly free anymore. I told the president to go fuck herself and stormed off from the border. Reed contacted me later and told me he thinks I was right.!< That shit fucked me up. Wrong city, wrong people.

I really >!didn’t want to kill him!< because I respected him for being a man of principle and believed he did actually care about Song, but I sensed almost a kind of arrogance from him in that. He believed he alone knew what was best for her, that only he and the FIA could help and he couldn’t see that what she truly wanted was freedom, more than survival. >!He only admits he was wrong about that in the ending where you euthanise her.!<
So Mi isn’t perfect by any stretch on the other side, but I chose to side with her because >!we were in a similar boat. Yes, she lies to you, but she gives you a chance to get the cure by admitting the lie when she could’ve played you until the very end. I already had my freedom and other options for survival (Hanako and Mikoshi), but this was her only chance to get both, so I sent her to the moon. I had a fleeting thought of Jackie when trying to make that decision and I just felt like that’s what he would’ve wanted me to do – to show grace.!<
Somehow, it felt more right in my heart being compassionate, maybe unjustifiably, than being justifiably selfish. Probably makes me a gonk, but that’s just the way I’m built I guess.

My playthrough this time is V as a woman who LOATHES men like Reed, and respects people like Song. My V is living on her terms, for herself, right and wrong be damned. I’d never pledge to Reed or the Prez, never go back to a corpo life or a life of taking orders she does not agree with or accept as a step to her path to a cure or a death she can accept.
Personal freedom, and freedom of choice, above all for V & every decision she makes, She knew she was likely to get fucked over by Song, but is driven by the need to accept personal choice & responsibility. I’ve learned that if Johnny likes it, my V is most likely gonna do it. Song is flawed, grey, dangerous & unrepentant. I love it.

Started being loyal with So Mi, empathyzing with her because of her siMilar situation to V, but after al the massacre I did for her on her ending, she outright lied to us in the most bitch way possible, and even so I kept my loyalty to the end, carrying her to that stupid space ship, having to even kill Reed, who tried to stubbornly help her till the very end… but the WORST part for me was her calling me a lier and that I had betrayed her, that she couldn’t trust nobody and that shitspeak. When she lied to every single protagonist of the DLC, and us multiple times.
The manipulative ass she is. Reed deserves us loyalty all the way, even through all his downsides and mistakes

Songbird deserves that second chance. I was playing as a batman-esque character on this playthrough. I wasn’t bothered for a second by her betrayal. She was still a person who needed to be saved. She was worthy of life, even if its a bleak one on the moon.
She was forced into this job by Reed and the FIA and had to spend most of her adult life working for Myers. Reed and Myers just could not let this woman go. They stopped seeing her as a person who wants to do things, has a point of view.
I believe you should show compassion for songbird, I wish you can show some to Reed but it is so hard to connect with someone as guarded as him. There is a lot of good people in Night City and Songbird is one of them. She is just scared shitless with few options and fewer people she can trust.

PL was a Bond story. We’ve got Reed as the old 007, V as the new 007, Hansen as the Bond villain. And Songbird, as the Bond girl.
And as a true Bond girl fashion, Songbird plays V, just like she played Reed before.
Phantom Liberty was Songbird’s game, as she staged the whole events for her survival. She uses the damsel in distress strategy on V to keep him on her side.
V is a young agent, not a seasoned wolf like Reed. So it’s fitting for him to fall for Songbird’s games, who herself is an experienced agent.
I mean come on, V had to be fucked in this tango with FIA. Him making all the right decisions there just doesn’t sit right with me. And this ending makes it rather heartbreaking for him, while also living another day to reach his goals.
Songbird betrayed everyone so she could survive and with that ending, she does survive. Because for her, survival meant everything.
Fot V though, he wanted to be a Night City legend. So the Solo Arasaka ending is perfect for him imo.

As a veteran, I felt like me and Reed were similar. And in the end he was a man of his word. I trusted him through and through. It didn’t surprise me when I found out So Mi would sell you out in the end when I read up on the opposite decision.
