Honestly, I’d just buy the 5800X3D and set aside the rest of the money for a future build

Your CPU is bottlenecking the fuck out of your pc. You maybe are using 50% of your whole pc, beacuse of your cpu. Get a new cpu and pretty good cpu. Everything else is pretty good. Also get 32gb ram. 16gb for 4070 is cursed.

Agreed with others posting. A 5800x3D would be a decent upgrade. Maybe 32gb of RAM if you wanted or save the rest for a future upgrade.
Edit: Or if you really wanted a better investment (and spend your whole budget of 800-1k) you could get on AM5 with a new mobo, a 7800x3D, and some DDR5.
That’ll allow a CPU upgrade at the end of AM5s life too.

5800x3d and add another set of 16GB for total of 32GB of RAM
CapnClutch007
I know everyone is saying get a 5800x3d but with that much you could get a decent b650 board with a 7700 and some ddr5 if you want a platform that has some growing room. If you can get one of those microcenter bundles I would get one of those instead they are too good to pass up.
5800x3d is also a good choice just throwing out some ideas.

Nothing. Pretty modern and well balanced system as is. Would upgrading your system have any real impact on your quality of life? If not, I’d just pocket it and plan a nice vacation or something tbh.

RAM and CPU. Everything else looks fine.

Really, for 1440p you only need RAM and a fast boot/game drive.
If your Motherboard is not PCIEv4.0 you may also need to upgrade that.
Also if your motherboard doesn’t have an NVMe heatsink you’ll need one.
Mr_Megahertz
Either:
New Mobo + 7800X3D + DDR5
(expensive, utilize all of budget)
Or
5800X3D and add 16GB RAM
(Save some money for later)
realrock880
sell the 4070, get a 4080 and a 5800x3d

Something [like this](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8KqVsL) for 800$, 1000$, get a nice case and some extra storage on top of that? Assuming you PSU can handle a 7800x3D and a 4070. Could also get a 5800x3D, 64GB of RAM and a ton of storage?
alper_iwere

I appreciate all the replies guys. I’m heavily leaning towards going the AM5 route just so I’ll have an excuse to basically build another PC lol. I’ll probably sell my older parts or give to my wife

Do nothing for now honestly and just save up to for an am5 next year.
