Farewell my friend. It was good to have you by my side.

Now I need to get a new CPU. Not want to spend too much.
Would replacing the 3900x with a CPU from the 5 or 7 series give any problems on an existing system?

You should be able to swap that CPU out for a compatible one with your motherboard and not experience any issues with your system or OS install. Validate cpu + memory on your motherboard before you buy a new one

  2. How did you kill a CPU lol, anyway, yes you can buy any Ryzen 5000 CPUs and should be a drop in replacement, as long as you updated the motherboard bios at least once in the last couple years.

I’ve replaced my motherboard some time ago. Removing the cooler with CPU. After some battle I separated them but some pins were heavily bended. I managed to bend these back but I guess now I pay the price for that.

I have built so many Pc’s since 2003-2004 era (over 200 probably) some for work, a lot for me and friends/family.

The only part that never failed on me is the CPU.

    You are one unlucky guy.

Did you test another CPU in this socket to make sure the CPU is indeed your problem?

Ryzen 5 should work decently and not too expensive. I’ve got the 5600G

Had 3900xt die on me a couple of weeks ago. No warning.

Seems like you and I have the same fate sorta. I bent my pins as well after trying to remove the cpu cooler. Upgraded to a 5600g loving it

Give me about a week to buy a 5800s3d (on sale I hope) and I’ll sell you my 3900x for a good price

How do you know your CPU died? CPUs almost never die in normal conditions.

  13. Props to my i5 2500K still running since 2011.

CPUs are uncommon to die, a cpu would die if the consumer didn’t use the correct amount of thermal paste, overclocking or a defective unit

Why does the PCB on your CPU looks like its falling apart? Each corner looks totally rough.

What board do you have? Sounds like a good time for a 5800x3d

  17. MrGeekman

How often did you replace the thermal paste?

My 3900x also randomly died back in around February this year, went with a 5800x3D to replace.

I work in IT and deal with broken PC’s all the time. Only ever seen 1 dead CPU ever.

It didn’t die, you killed it by bending the pins.

well, time for 5800x3d then and another 5-7 years of gameplay.
