Okay, you came here to see how to play this. This is Contractors VR, which has arguably the best Mod support of any VR Shooter. BOTH TF2’s, Halo, CODZ, you name it, its got a 1:1 recreation in Contractors.
This footage is recorded on a Quest 2, but ignore the quality and framerate of this video. Recording and getting a video off of a Quest is a difficult process, but I have to use a particurlarly unorthodox method that fucks with the quality even more. It runs much smoother than this ingame, dont worry. If you dont play VR and are looking to get into it, Quest 2 would be my recommendation, or wait for Quest 3 to come out and see how good it is. Or just get PCVR If your PC is nuts. Im currently typing this from my somewhat Dead Gaming Laptop, so thats not an option for me.
This is the recently released Kino map, released alongside the Mapping tools designed to allow anyone to port CODZ Maps to Contractors with the Main aspects of CODZ Already premade. By the way, the character voicelines are there, I just personally had them turned off at the time. You get complete control over separate types of sound within the mod, as youd expect. I have SFX at abt 3/4 and Music at max, ofcourse. 115 on High-ish rounds hits different in VR.
Now, I wanted to point out a few interesting differences unique to VR:
1: If you are comfortable and experienced with VR, This is far easier. Being able to move your aim without Moving your entire head is a massive deal. Being able to shoot accurately without fully ADSing is a massive deal. I would definately argue this is alot easier.
2: Certain details about how base contractors work serve to unintentionally add some cool QOL features, for example, You can pre- wind up a Monkey bomb and place it back into your grenade slot, But it remains armed so you can just grab it and throw it really quickly. Maybe thats less QOL and more an advantage, but this one is straight up an advantage: The amount of weapons you can have are based on how many holsters you have, starting with 2 at either side, and adding a 3rd on your back with Mule Kick. Notice I say weapon holsters, and not how many weapons you have. You can still use, and reload, a 4th weapon with all 3 Holsters full. However, when needing to interact with anything, or Throw a nade/monkey bomb, etc, you will have to put it down, even if you pick it up again.
3. This also means there is no restriction on dual wielding. Dual wield rayguns, Dual wield AWPs, Dual wield the damn thundergun, the game does not care.
4. Speed Cola is missing. Duh. How would that even work? YOU Do the reloading. It’s instead replaced with Staminup, a very welcome change.
5. Not so much a VR specific change, but perk limit is gone. I definitely appreciate this small change, more often that not Mule Kick will be the perk being sacrificed but its just more fun to have all 5.
6. As you know, once you get the Thundergun, youre pretty much set for a while as long as you dont Mess up really badly. Problem is, this cant really be paused and left, and its harder to play VR For extended periods of time than any other device. I find I can usually play for around 1 Hour 45 Mins maximum, not to mention the Battery life of the Quest 2. There are ways to deal with it, such as getting a powerpack to attach to the headset, (You can even get headstrap replacements with built in powerpacks,) But I just havent done it.
Alright, think thats everything, just incase someone did want to know more about this. Its great fun, If you have a headset or the ability to get one, Id go for it, Theres alot more here than just CODZ. VR Got massive a while ago, every remotely well known youtuber picked up a headset and played Job Simulator, and everyone lost interest and saw it as a gimmick. VR has been rapidly growing in the background, and weve come a hell of a long way from those good ol Pick up and move object simulators. Rocket Jumping and Market Gardening? Rushing B and Awping mid? Training on Stage with the Thundergun? To name a few, emphasis on FEW.
