On one hand I get it, but on the other I don’t. We know that some mods are already broken and don’t work so this is pointless. There are mods that DO work and have been updated for 2.0 already. What if you didn’t but PL, what if you did buy PL but are still replaying through the main game and have a while before you even reach PL’s starting point? At this point are mods updated gonna need to be reupdated again? Why even launch 2 separate updates less than a week apart then? If it’s gonna turn off all mods without me even having a say so I might as well go back to my vanilla 100% save and beat PL with that and call it a day which is also just making their “make a new save for PL” suggestion useless for those of us using mods. I’ve beaten the game vanilla twice already since launch and like I mentioned 100% one of those saves, replaying this new save with 2.0 vanilla is just not gonna happen for me.

Be sure to do any infinite respecing now. That mod and the mods it depends on (redkit or something) are updated for 2.0
yeah wtf? do they even look at the modding scene for their own game? dozens are already updated and in use. another day, another avoidable fail from CDPR.
I am currently only using the mod where my V looks just like E3 demo V. I’ll be sad if it doesn’t work for PL.
The way they handle the mod situation is… suboptimal. First I was surprised they didn’t provide early access for prominent modders so people wouldn’t have to wait for weeks for their favorite mods to get updated, now we have this strange move… I guess they don’t want mods breaking the game leading to uninformed people leaving bad reviews, but just disabling everything is hardly a good solution.
Archive files should still work right?
i get why. they dont want complaints of people’s games breaking/crashing/not working due to mods that could be forgotten or uninstalled improperly. I think this is a good idea as some people just dont do due diligence when updates are involved for modded games.
i mean this could be kinda solved if they let the most influential modders do their thing before the release (for example CET)
This is the best choice they could have made. Imagine tons of complains about buggy games. Sometimes I still browse the Skyrim reddit and it’s full of complains about bugs their mods create and they don’t even realise it
I play console so. Join us
Does anyone know if there are new character creation options?
Well guess what CDPR? The best experience of your game came from the mods.
Guess I’ll just wait another week or so until they’re back on.
Afaik the base frameworks like CET, RED4Ext, et cetera are all broken and will result in crashes or plain refuse to launch the game. I see this as a positive by CDPR, since they know they updated the game so intricately that mod authors won’t have time to update mods for 2.0 and PL.
Is this going to be a big invisible on/off switch for those with mods? Or am I going to have to get in there manually to remove these, potentially with a fresh install?
“Why even launch 2 separate updates less than a week apart then”
hmmm maybe so people can test the update see if they like it and get feedback from people? like for example that controller bug or relic glitch effect not going away
When starting up the game I would have had a popup asking if you want mods disabled (with a check box the second time to not show again). Re enable it in settings. Allow them to choose.
As PS5 player, my heart bleeds for you (not) 😀
Finally I don’t need to be jealous of you guys and your fancy mods lol
Anything that works now without CET, redscript, redmod, tweakxl, red4ext etc will be fine, basically anything in the archive/mods folder will sail through no issues like it’s doing right now even with mods disabled in the launcher, don’t overthink it, you’re flapping
Besides, just because it’s turned off by default automatically doesn’t mean you don’t just you know, turn them on again 🙂
Hope this fixes all my crashes, haven’t even been able to play 2.0 yet
I had only hairstyle mods on my current 2.0 playthrough, will my character be broken when PL come out?
This is the right call. By all accounts from reviewers, the expansion having very few bugs is a really big selling point and a testament to the developers’ hard work. Letting clueless gamers ruin the performance of the game and then complaining about it would tarnish that.
It doesn’t sound like you can’t use mods. You just have to re-enable it through client settings, and mods will work. It isn’t a big deal. When 2.0 dropped, there were plenty of threads asking about why their game was buggy or crashing and turns they’re running mods… So, I can definitely see why it’ll be off automatically.
Do we know how this is being implemented? I’m assuming they’re just flipping the “enable Mods” option off in the launcher?
Finally they mention this. People who complained about mods not working in the Twitch chat when 2.0 released. Pawel Sasko was telling everyone to Install the mods before playing.
My main issue with this, is modders not being able to test stuff to update their mods. CET creator warned he has a busy week IRL so we’ll need to be patient anyway. We can enjoy the game until then, no matter.
Doesn’t effect me as I was already planning a ‘vanilla’ run with a clean install, but it does strike me as odd that they do this. Appreciate the communication tho.
Great idea, honestly. It’s their most ambitious update so far, the average gamer with two uncooperative brain cells trying to install a bunch of out-of-date mods and then going on rants about how the game’s broken and a waste of time would kill the image.
The minority who mod responsibly will suffer, but only for a while, before they find a way around it anyways. It’s a win-win.
This would be a good thing if it would not break the game in some cases. Although I deactivated and uninstalled all mods and used validation of files I had to fully reinstall the game..
– Start Vortex
– Disable all of your Mods
– Purge Mods
– ?????
– No need to re-download all from Scratch. Just keep them Disabled until Vortex detects new Updates
– You should be okay! for the Patch
This helped me with Patch 2.0 Crashes. Hope it works with PL, too
I don’t get this. Because if you have mods like me and run the game it just CTD. I wanted to play the 2.0 update so I just started fresh and will wait for CET etc to get working again.
