I’ve been trying to squeeze out more performance out of my CPU, and after fiddling with PBO in bios for a while, I’ve finally tried to OCs through Ryzen Master and found up to 10% performance increase over Precision Boost Overdrive in one of the benchmarks I was using. Without mentioning the name of the benchmark, I’ve been getting consistently these values/scores (averages, to make it short I won’t be reporting all the scores):

Stock, 4.8-4.85 Ghz, total score 98%:

\- 1 core, 2 core: 180 points, 337 points

\- 4 core, 8 core: 606 points, 1060 points

PBO on, +200Mhz max boost, -25 curve optimizer, 5.05-5.1 Ghz, total score 101%:

\- 1 core, 2 core: 192 points, 348 points (6.6% and 3.2% increase over stock)

\- 4 core, 8 core: 616 points, 1132 points (1.6% and 6.8% increase over stock)

OC with Ryzen Master, 5.4 Ghz, 1.21 volt, total score 110%:

\- 1 core, 2 core: 202 points, 392 points (12.2% and 16.3% increase over stock)

\- 4 core, 8 core: 730 points, 1173 points (20.4% and 10.6% increase over stock)

For comparison, the average scores that other people with same CPU as me get are 106% total score, 191, 373, 694 and 1062 for each 1/2/4/8 core metric – my CPU as stock and even with PBO underperforms quite a bit compared to most other users, majority whom probably only run with PBO.

In another benchmark I’m getting 10.4% higher score in overall ranking and 8.6% increase in single core ranking with Ryzen Master OC vs PBO.

Obviously, I’d like to keep these settings, however Ryzen Master has to be manually applied at ever login, which is quite annoying. I know I can manually OC in the bios… however, it just won’t let me. Anytime I try to input “CPU Ratio” of 50 or over, the number appears red and the setting doesn’t load on startup (I end up with super slow max 500 mhz cores, until I enter bios again and change the settings back to stock or PBO). The highest manual bios OC it will let me input, is 49 which translates to max clock speed of 4.9 Ghz, which is slower than PBO settings.

So, question to the overclockers here, how can I bypass this limit, where does this limit come from (motherboard itself?) and can it even be bypassed? The motherboard is MSI Tomahawk B650 and I’ve flashed the newest bios recently. I can live with launching Ryzen Master on startup every time to apply overclock, but I’d much rather have it set in the bios.

I will greatly appreciate any help I can get.
