My 5th round 100 and first ever flawless, this time on Origins

After reaching round 100 on Ascension two days ago, I turned my eye to Origins next in my quest for round 100 on every BO3 map with classics only. I did three attempts earlier today but died while setting up, figuring I’d just work out the kinks of the setup. The fourth attempt was my first one to make it past the setup and I figured I’d play it out and see how far I could get. Little did I know that this fourth run would turn out to be my first flawless run, as I deliberately chose not to run Quick Revive to prevent death machines from spawning. I mostly just stuck to sulky118’s strategy for Origins, though in the 90s I did have to briefly switch to the high round strategy in the excavation site when I was out of staff ammo.

My setup involved building the ice and wind staves ASAP, and at least one of them before round 8, as well as having jug. I had the ice staff ready for upgrading at the end of round 7, then placed it in the Crazy Place for upgrading, went back and built the wind staff then used it to kill the panzer on round 8 while filling soul boxes. I also got Speed Cola, Staminup and Mule Kick (those plus jug are the best 4 to start with). Once I had all 4 boxes full (round 11), I then got the G-Strikes and got my AATs ready – Dead Wire on the Kuda and Turned on the VMP.

The only thing I was missing at that point was extra perk slots and I only really needed one for Widows, I could then use the free double tap to get to 6 perks, though over the course of the game, I eventually got all 4 red dig sites and ran 8 perks (all but QR). I let the Templars disable generators 4 5 and 6 so I could control their spawns (FYI if you have 3 gens on, they won’t spawn but they will if you turn a 4th one on), and moved down to the Fire tunnel to get the strategy going. Rounds 20-90 were very chill and almost as easy as Revelations, you just stand there and fire the staff every couple seconds and occasionally use your AATs to speed things up. When the Panzer comes, just fire a charged shot to lock him in place, then spam regular shots at him to kill him. I did try just using charged shots entirely but that won’t kill him past the 70s, you have to shoot him directly.

The last 10 rounds were very scary, especially 92-95. I was low on staff ammo at the end of round 91 and knew a Panzer was likely the next round, so I used the free max ammo at spawn. This turned out to be a big mistake as I promptly got a natural max ammo at the start of the round and thus wasted it, though I did have no issue killing the panzer. My gum cycle was also quite bad and I wasn’t able to get an alchemical until round 97 so I had to burn my ice staff ammo, then go get the wind staff and start training down in the excavation site, which I had never actually done before (though I had watched InsomniaVirus’s run to 255 so I knew that it was a viable method). I was saved by a mid-round max ammo on round 93 and was able to use my G-strikes to move back to the fire tunnel to keep the strat going. At the end of round 93, I went and turned on gen 4 to proc a templar round the next round and get another max ammo.

For those who didn’t already know this, death machines require one of two conditions to be met before they enter the drop cycle. Either the player has purchased Quick Revive (not sure if this applies on co-op), or the power switch has been turned on. Because Origins does not have a power switch, not buying Quick Revive means you can prevent death machines from spawning, thus getting you more max ammos in the drop cycle. This turned out to be crucial in the last 5 rounds as I was constantly short of ammo and I needed all the maxes I could get. My last panzer round spawn was on round 96, and my last templar spawn was round 99 (I left 4 generators on after the round 94 templars so I would get another one), and I was able to use my last Alchemical to get through rounds 97 and 98.

All in all, I’m so relieved I can be done with this map, as while I didn’t expect to get to 100 so soon, I really didn’t want to have to do the setup again. Now the last “easy” round 100s left for me are Der Eisendrache, Shadows and Kino, though I may also go back to Rev and do that flawless with classics, as my 100 on that was with a mega (just Immolation, no other megas) and had a down.
