They are going to fuck them up just like they fuck up 99% of everything.
It’s easy to ignore the whole thing though. Despite being a GiTS fan of nearly the beginning (I even have the Japanese mangas, my gf got them for me during her vacation there <3)… I can say that I never saw the live action movie and I also never will. Easy.
Still, credit where its due: IMO Johansson does nail the looks of Kusanagi. “Sorta”.

It was good. Had lots going for it but was a bit too literal in its translation. I still like it.
I love GITS but if they had just made Scarlets stealth suit black.. whole movie would have played better.
I never got a chance to see the anime or anything related to it beforehand so I actually liked the movie.
Same as when I saw The Last Airbender. I never saw the cartoon so I wasn’t aware of the issues and had a decent time.
Fuck I saw TMNT Mutant Madness and the changes never bothered me. I think people should be allowed to be creative and color outside the lines in an established property if they want to.

GITS was fine. We should be so lucky to have adaptations being that bad as the fear

As far as I know neuromancer is in Production limbo and won’t happen sadly!

I’m not sold on an Akira live action, but Neuromancer could definitely use an update. Hopefully Case still narrates the entire thing.
I thought it was fine. The visuals and some of the character designs were perfect. If they wanted to do the original, they should of stuck with it. If they wanted to do SAC they should of stuck with that. SAC would of probably been the better live action option, they could of done the whole cyber-terrorist thing with Kuze or The Laughing Man.
It was an OK movie
I don’t understand what your problem is. It would have been a little bit less controversial if they had a cast an Asian actress as the major but they did a decent enough job explaining it in universe and frankly let’s be realistic here, you have to have a big name or the movie just doesn’t get made, and the visuals are incredible and it followed the story. well enough. I have absolutely no problems with the movie and the 95 original is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Rest easy, we will never get a Neuromancer movie much less an Akira one.

I am sorry but in this case Scarlett Joahnsonn is the problem. Motoko was a perfect war machine, It is clear that Scarlett received a very fast and approximative martial art training… Maybe a more expert actress could have been a better option.
