Helloooo, a few days ago, I saw some people on this subreddit, who asked for suggestions, how to cyberpunk a car. Soooo I wanted to ask, if you have some advices or ideas for me too? ^^
My car is a VW Polo built in 2011 (this is an example picture).

Big ass turbo and a bigger asser wire controlled gun on top.

  2. PostwarVandal

Big-ass cow/pedestrian ram bar on front. Wheels with closed rims, and some bolt on antennae and power boxes here and there, and a Mr. Fusion sticking out of the bonnet. 😀

Definitely either change color to something more lively, or add some huge vinyl sticker. Beefy front bumper. And i think this car could handle a spoiler as well.

    What’s the budget?

For a polo start looking at polo rally and club sport versions. Then take their extremes and translate it to cyber punk. Because the polo is used in car sports you can find many parts and upgrades for it.

If you want a car to look better, nearly any car excluding some old timer classics, start with the wheels and tires. Next or in combination change the dampers/springs and general lower the car. You car will now have a much better looking stance, and it will appear more dynamic in general.

Instead of repainting your car, check out wrapping options.

You can alongside the better stance consider how to tune the car, ecu mapping depending on the engine is a fist go to as it can be reversed to default in case of a sale or in regard to endurance. If you choose to go quite hard on the performance tuning, do not forget to upgrade your brakes accordingly.

In any case start with making your vision of a cyber punk polo in eg photoshop or one of the free programs.

You need to know were you are heading not to bust the budget. If budget is no problem get a more interesting car and contact a car tuner company. Expect to pay as much as the price or double it’s value for a specific build of a dream.

If you just want to make a mad crazy looking polo, try googling German rat cars, cyber punk cars or look for mad max cars in general. There are thousand of crazy car projects to be found as inspiration. Check cars of the “burning man” festival as well.

expose the wiring looms, rip out the interior and replace with tech, swap out the dash for something a little more cassette futurism or maybe a hud, add a snorkel for the engine. make sure all this looks rough as fuck

I mean, thematically: a car is already about the most cyberpunk thing.

It loses money the instant you buy it.

You have to buy a handful of subsidiary subscriptions: insurance, licenses, etc.

    It is highly polluting.

It is generally incredibly trackable, and another few zillion data points handed over to the powers that be.

For many, they’re leased as a part of a gig economy, often a necessary supplement to one’s supposed job.

The industry is openly part of lobbying efforts to deny the impact of climate change, crush unions, suppress safety research, and other causes actively hostile to the public.

And many cities (especially in the US), you need one to live, because they’ve taken out the sidewalks and defunded public transport.

And that’s even before you add in the really weird shit, like self-driving and remote access….

Basically the most cyberpunk thing you could do to a car is have one.

(All slightly hyperbolic, obviously, but also…)

  7. Check r/battlecars subreddit for inspiration or that one guy that made cyperpunk style miata (i am pretty sure he posted some photos here).
You should also check safari version of some Porsche 911 or 944 etc. Just slap some ‘roo bars, LED.

  8. -kerosene-

Cover the windows and wheel arches with steel plate. Put the radiator on the outside of the car. Hit it with a baseball bat a few times. You’ll thank me later.

  9. That-ugly-Reiver

Check on AliExpress, you’ll find a lot of useless funny gadgets for cars

  10. Loom, and just run that shit random on your car.

    1. get anything but a polo
    2. ask the same question again

Underglow lights under the car. Teal and/or magenta. Not street legal in some states, but that just makes them even more cyberpunk.

Cut it in half on like- idk 67° angle so it touches the ground looking like its glitched into it
