I realized all the cars had no usuable side view mirrors, and the pov on the seat feels like you’re an eight year old looking up the dashboard.

Instead, we have this camera module looking thingy. I guess we were going to get some Augmented Reality side view mirrors on the side window panel. Basically the camera would pickup the side mirror pov and it would be displayed on the window that is also a digital display. Kinda like how on the high end cars it’s actually a full metal enclosure and the windshield is just a digital display.

I suspect it has to do with the old engine limitations – on how rendering a side view mirror pov in real time would tax lower end systems to the point of unplayability. Which is probably why it was ultimately cut, and why driving in first person sucks.

I wonder if the modding community can step up, come Phantom Liberty. I mean we got flying cars modded in, how far off can usuable side view mirrors be. Oh and a windshield display map/compass hud would be preem. A man can dream.

World wise, it might be usual for people to hook up there kiroshis to it.

It’s also because you lose your natural sense of direction if you use the mouse/joystick to turn Vs view. You can turn your head a full 90 or so degrees in less than a second without even thinking in the real world.

Keeping awareness while driving in CP77, or any other game with a first person driving mode, is very challenging.

That, it’s it’s just a video game and things in it don’t work like they do in reality.

Yeah when you are driving it becomes extremely apparent that you have massive blind spots.

Doesn’t help that you seem to get extreme whiplash from light braking with the way your head darts back and forth.

Arma 3, which is set in 2035 already has side view cameras which are fully functional (depending on your PIP settings, of course) in some “modern” cars. That is a 10 year old engine. This should actually not be an engine limitation.

  6. The side views aren’t as big a deal for me as feeling like we’re an 8 year old desperately peering over the dashboard.

At least we should have look behind while driving

Well, FarCry mirrors also don’t work but driving is not that awkward. I think is the position of the dash too, too little road to see.
