On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate Die Rise? I’ll start:

I actively do not enjoy this map. In part due to my skill also in part not feeling comfortable in any area beyond the dragon rooftops. Every time I play it I just feel a constant state of dread. 3.7 out of 10.

Not bad, when I still had BO2, I played it here and there. The elevators and parkour don’t bother me that much. Cool wonder weapon. Annoying online cuz it’s just a race to the Sliquifier, and then people start leaving.

Where Treyarch (yes even I will criticize my goat Jimmy Zielinski) fucked up is actually not doing more with the concept of high rises or abandoned buildings.

Any of us here have experienced falling to our deaths on the map and I hate knowing that we could have had a ground floor, aka the actual ground. When a mechanic like Flopper existed, USE IT, teasing the community and utilizing an awful perk a cola does not make for good game design.

There are so many possibilities that could have been achieved especially with the ability to fall off the buildings and land into the bottom of the map. Diverging paths, other destroyed or wrecked buildings that aren’t climbable but have unique items or quest line implications, more space for fluidity and training (because its a fucking mess with 4 people otherwise)

Small other tangent, I know the Sliquifier does NOT need an upgrade given its insane abilities as a weapon, however I enjoy and wish Treyarch would have made it pack-able, im always a sucker for seeing that aztec like chromed out design and seeing Wonder Weapons get an extra element of broken in their upgrades.

Map is unplayable at least to me, if I rated it, 3-4.5/10

Die rise is subjectively a good map and IMO the dumbest reason people hate the map is “you fall off too easily”

Either A. You sprinted too early, or B. You have bad timing and train or camp in the worst spots, there is many spots that avoid the risky falling. It’s a skill issue. The layout is also fucking amazing and better than most maps.

P.S. who’s who’s is genuinely a bad perk on high rounds im gonna be honest

8/10. For the most part, I agree with the pros, although I’d add that the Sliquifier is not only OP, but it’s one of the best WW in the series, one of the few that is not only special because it’s powerful, but because it has a special functionality mechanic attached to it. It’s just fun to chain kill zombies with this thing.

I’ve always been a fan of the layout, I know people hate it, but I’ve always though that being unable to backtrack adds another layer of planning in the early game, and can lead to sticky situations in the late game that are fun to overcome. At the end of the day, that’s the point of verticality, it’s harder to go up than to go down.

I also disagree with the atmosphere, I think this map captures some of the best atmospheres for Zombies. Sad, unsettling, and anxious, it really feels like a post apocalyptic setting, and goes really well with the tone of the original Zombies games.

My main two criticism are that Jumping Jacks are too mediocre and uninspired for such a cool map, and that the lack of inventory is whack for the type of layout they were going for.

i love the interiors especially the bottom floor where you build the sliquifier. i seriously wish more maps were designed with this in mind like MotD too. Interior cramped level design is perfect and what started Zombies with Nacht, Verrukt and even Der Reise.

I’d say this is just a better kino in general. Like a 7 out of 10

Controversial but I like how challenging it is. The constant risk of potentially falling when traversing the map really keeps you on your toes and I like it.
