The best I’ve played was Bo3, and possibly WW2 (though that was was years ago); I almost bought CW, but it wouldn’t run on my Pc without extreme lag in just the menu.
They all look neat, I’ll say that.

Never been keen on spawning in with whatever weapon you want. If they take that out then yeah I agree.

While I hate the BO3 and 4 weapons (older games are too old to compare to tbh), CW weapons were all shit apart from like 2 and I think that’s the worst thing ever. Even if they felt better than BO3, it felt like they were so anti fun by being so useless. On BO3 at least all guns were good (not even talking about double PAP) and on BO4 well that was meh but still better than CW because at least it had a couple of cool weapons and the Hellion Salvo.

counterpoint:
having weapons you aquire in game have random attachments is dumb and makes wanting to level them all up way less interesting..

Gotta disagree. I don’t like that you can spawn with whatever weapon you want and then viably use that same spawn weapon for the entire game
Derp_Cha0s
I’d compare it to BO4. Cold War has more weapons that any of them can easily get to high rounds with, but a big contribution to that is other mechanics outside of the weapons themselves such as the strong perks and the ability to buy ammo for any weapon you please.
In BO4 you can also get to any round you please it’s just more difficult and the heaviest weapons are nigh impossible without Stamina-Up.
So it’s more oh a quality Vs quantity. BO4 weapons are more unique and varied while more have better QoL in Cold War.

Cold War is a gem…when it isn’t glitching out.

Cold War made the M1911 good.

It definitely wasn’t a bad weapon system. It just sucks that Cold War was a unfinished, buggy, piece of trash filled with cosmetics that you have the pay 1/3 of the games price for.
copyqhat
honestly i just didnt like the weapon tiers

Adding a second currency was stupid in the first place. Needing 30,000 points when they have the worst point system and how much blue salvage needed to fully upgrade your gun is too much to enjoy.
Icy_Enthusiasm5760
I hate to be that guy but honestly imo Cold War did nothing better than bo3 other than the ray gun buff. Loadouts and the rarity upgrade system made hitting the box virtually pointless unless you were going for ray gun. Perks were overpowered to the point where it was dumb, and having bundle operators instead of actual characters was not just bad it was pathetic. And don’t even get me started on the main quests lmao. Cold wars best map was no where close to bo3’s worst.

Spawning with a maxed weapon ruins all sort of weapon progression. Theres nothing in the mystery box bar the ray gun or wonder weapon that you’d be excited for, since you essentially have a BO4 unlimited specialist as a gun (in the sense that its too OP) at the start of every game. You don’t get the ecstatic feel anymore of getting good weapons in the box like you did with say the galil, brecci or helion salvo in prior games.
The weapon tier system, I find it kinda shit ngl, just makes everything overcomplicated and more confusing than just giving base weapons that you can PaP to counter damage falloff.
Especially the weapon attachments. Zombies was a simple game mode with no attachments, then BO3 and BO4 brought weapon attachments and operator mods which is completely fine since they were simple to understand and introduced some sort of progression into zombies other than your level. But CW weapon attachments are just so confusing, in the sense that you actually have to understand what you’re putting on your gun instead of just slapping grip or FMJ onto it, with all this positive and negative nonsense, like whats the point of bringing negatives into the attachments when you are literally shooting zombies.
The random attachments you get from the mystery box is stupid as well. I want an FFAR but when I get it, it has a stupid 2x zoom scope that I don’t want and basically ruins it. I get you can change the attachments in the menus so if you get it out of the mystery box you get those attachments, but there is no way I am levelling up all those weapons and setting attachments on each and every cw gun in the game just to get weapons from the mystery box without random attachments.
Just sharing my opinion though, I still play CW sometimes and understand that a lot of people do like these changes, so to each their own 🤷♂️

The starting weapon system just feels so wack to me idk.

most of the complaints people have are completely optional. hate being able to choose what ever gun you spawn in with? just select a pistol.

Cold war’s gameplay system was the best.
The only way i’d change it to make it more “roguelike” is to make it so you have to buy a perk again amd again to get the different tier effects (e.g. buying phd slider 4 or 5 times to get the speed boost).
And also the same for the PAP weapon mods.
This would make for more stuff to spend points on and a better feeling of progression rather than buying one perk and being like “oops i’m OP as fuck on round 5 now”

This thread does a very good job at showing how out of touch the Zombies community is. This is universally seen as the case by most players, Cold War did everything the best for the franchise.
Apparently, the overwhelming minority happen to be all here, in this subreddit, somehow trying to argue a case against it in vain.

the weapons themselves feel miles better then BO3 but the attachment/blueprint system was ass cheeks, gettin an MP5 outta the box and comes with 8 attachments with a fucking 8x scope and laser sight looks abnoxious
foomongus
I do agree, but that’s cause bo1 and 2 had very weak weapons, AW and IW had low ammo and an awful weapon pool, bo3 and bo4 had an extremely lackluster weapons

Nah. BO4 did it even better.
I like the weapon system a lot besides the 3x PaP
I’ll take your word for it.
