Yeah, there’s no discernable logic to the correlation between the dots and the lines. Like if a hollow circle is just the triangle/tip thing, and a full circle is a line with a tip, then shouldn’t the whole circle plus the hollow circle (Bottom left) be a tipped line plus an extra tip (top middle)?
For many easter eggs I eventually get a sense for it and can stop looking at a guide after a few attempts, but I need this graphic on hand EVERY TIME I play Origins.

Actually, once I learned how to actually solve it, it became really easy. Though you do have to remember middle to high school math in order to understand how it works.
Basically, the dots are in Base 3. So blank dot is 0, dot is 1, and two dots vertically is 2. It’s easy enough for those three, but past that gets a little more tricky.
Let’s take 7 for example. Which would be two vertical dots and then a singular dot. Back in middle school I think we use to break down base 10 like this:
115 = (1 * 10^2 ) + (1 * 10^1 ) + (5 * 10^0 )
If we take that same logic, we can apply it to base 3 to get 7. So the two vertical dots that equal two is what is multiplied by 3^1. Then our next number is 1, because of the one dot, and that gets applied to 3^0 since it’s in the last spot. Then it goes something like this:
(2 * 3^1 ) + (1 * 3^0 ) = 7
The lines are the same deal, only they are in base 4. So triangle would be 0, one line would be 1, L would be 2, and upside F would be 3.
Let’s take 7 again for this. 7, on the image is one line and then an upside down F, which means it’s a 1, and then a 3. Apply the same logic we used to decipher base 10 and base 3, and we get this:
(1 * 4^1 ) + (3 * 4^0 ) = 7
TLDR: The dots are in base 3, and the lines are in base 4. Figure out what number each represent and connect them
