The PS5 costs around 700-800€ in Poland. In Germany, the country next to it you get a PS5 with game for 530€. Why is there such a huge difference?

The fact that those are on the sales floor is stupid.

Could be a lot of factors. I guess as Poland is also in the EU it can’t be because of import tax, but maybe other taxes are higher than in Germany like VAT. Also Poland isn’t using Euros, this could have an impact as well.

Then Germany is a way bigger market, probably the biggest in Europe. Could be possible Sony sells it cheaper there so more people buy it and they can make money with games sold. For consoles you can’t just compare prices of the console itself as Sony is making most of the money with games. So it could be the case they are selling it with a loss or less win in Germany, but compensate it with games and total units sold.

I guess it’s a mix of all of those and maybe they don’t care that much for Poland as a market and try to squeeze people there a bit more.

I guess its most likely to be the inflation in Poland.

Because Poland uses a different currency with different value. Last time I was there €1 was 5 polish zloty approximately

Just a shop trying to sell for the scarcity price. In lithuania i saw a ps5 in a home depo shop for 900 euro, but you can buy it for 560 euro with the shops card. While a gaming shop currently has it in stock and sells it for 550. I think this is the only shop who was selling for msrp (and thus had stock sold out fast) while other shops was selling those for around 900 euro.

As i understand the shops got the ps5s from a third party distributor who upped the price during scarcity and the shop still tries to regain the money they spent.

I have a question about the photo, I tried to google it but could not find the answer.

What does the 0% text means in the photo?

It looks like some kind of “this is for sale” sign, but 0% sale makes no sense to me, so its probably something else 😅

Amazing they aren’t locked behind a glass display. There must be very few thefts in Poland and Germany.

  8. Why the difference is so big? Because you are trying to buy it in store that tries to scam you. You can get in for around 550€ in many places.

  9. ishsreddit

wow how bold of you guys to have it on the floor. Not happening in Murica.

  10. Emnonymous-OnlyFans

It’s crazy that demand is so different as if gaming isnt a hobby globally.

  11. I’m not really sure, but I am pretty sure that PS5 does not cost 700-800 euro in Poland. I bought my own for approx. 550-600 Euro. With a disc reader. And a Spiderman. Both Spidermans. And by Spiderman I mean the game.

    Tariffs? Tax? Transportation costs? Russia?

  13. Most things cost less in the US than here in the UK (equivalency)

$499 vs £499 is about $150 difference when converting from pound to dollar…

most things here in the UK are priced ‘the same’ (numerically) as the US, rather than ACTUALLY priced the same…

Have noticed it for some things in rest of europe too but no where near as bad!

Maybe something similar, attempting to price them at the ‘same’ but ending up being vastly different when converted over!

Because you lied ps5 in Poland is 2450pln~550euro. Shop you went to price is 2699PLN~606euro (You can clearly see it on the pic you posted). Don’t know how you estimated this 700-800euro shit but well ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Isn’t Germany like the richest country in Europe.

  16. I had the same reflexion to a friend about PS5 in Brasil where it cost nearly 4.5k reais which is like 850 euros. In France, it cost 500 euros for the disc version.

I told him that at this price, it might be cheaper for him to travel by plane to the border between Brazil and France, cross the Oiapoque (river between French Guiana and Brazil), buy a PS5 in french Guiana and then come back to Brazil than buying it in the country.

Usually the governments stealing your money.

Someone stated it isn’t an import tax because your in the eu but here in Canada we just make shit up like “Carbon tax” every few years to balance the books lol.

  18. KataraMan

The main factor is because people are still buying it. If none bought it that expensive, then they’d lower their prices.

  19. defdog1234

Cant you travel freely in the EU on your free busses and trains?

    Buy it over there.

Problem with currency bro. It is the same here in my country. When converted to Dollars or Euros, i paid more, like 20%-30% more than the equivalent price in developed countries. This is what us with weaker currencies suffers. More mark ups by the retailer too. My country, malaysia has near same currency as you

  21. damastaGR

Your prime minister is an Xbox fanboy probably?

  22. Just get to tell which peoples are screwed over in EU.

  23. dubvision

Its called free market bud. Just go wherever you find it for the right price. I’ve seen it in different countries also super expensive (euro) for no reason but greedy store owners

  24. BoiFrosty

Import cost, shipping cost, specific taxes, retailer upcharge.

  25. Jack-M-y-u-do-dis

What kinda math are you doing? The current conversion rate from PLN to USD is literally 0.25pln per 1 USD. I can walk to the nearest Media Expert and buy a PS5 for 2199pln, that’s literally 554.98usd. sure it’s more than the $400 that it costs in the USA, but including import fees and taxes I don’t think there’s a significant markup for us here compared to Germany, and especially not a 200% one. If a PS5 actually cost like 3200pln, then nobody would buy it.

Edit: my bad the price is 2249pln, so add like 13 bucks on top of that for a total of roughly 563 USD or about 505 Euros

  26. Ill-Resolution-4671

You are comparing across currencies. Obviously not possible.

The retail price is the same but importers in dofferent countries must pay wildly different prices. This impacts the selling price. Some places its quite similar and other place much more expensive

  27. sicarius254

Cost of living differences, shipping/import costs, a variety of factors can affect prices. There’s a gas station by my house that’s usually 30 cents more expensive than one on the way to my work which is only like 10km away

  28. Shellman00

Bruh, here in Sweden, the country literally above Poland, its 620 euro with taxes 🤣

  29. SoyNintendoBoy

“Did you put no games into the PS of 5, Harry?” he asked calmly.

  30. CarloCokxxxSoldier

You know, ever since Lil Yachty brought the wock to your country, the economy has changed

  31. Alternative_Cut4491

Buy it via the internet, it’s a lot cheaper this way

  32. Because Poland is a poor country of rich people
