I always loved zombies but due to strict parents I never had the games for myself and only played at friends houses. My first full release cycle was BO4. I’ve been playing through every map in release order trying to put myself in the shoes of those that experienced the maps as they came out. I remember everyone being super excited as BO4 approached because of the overall quality of BO3. Then that hyped died more and more as people learned about the engine and perk system and the YouTubers were disappointed by their first early play thru’s. As I got to BO2 in release order play cycle it really hit me how bad the first half of BO2 was. You had Tranzit, Die Rise and four bare bones maps. I really do not like Tranzit or Die Rise I know most agree on the overall quality of the maps. For those who experienced BO2 as the maps released. Did people not care about Mob since the quality as so bad so far on BO2? And for everyone what was the least/most hyped maps and what were the least/most surprising maps with overall quality for you? Yeah shadows is amazing but after the Mob, Buried, origins run everyone kinda knew it was going to be great.

Our expectations were so low from transit,Nuketown and die rise

For least hyped / most surprising map, it’s got to be Ancient Evil. BO4 was batting, what, 2/5 at that point? One of which is a basic remake in Classified. And that ignores the non-map related issues that the entirety of BO4 had (including outside of Zombos). The game was dead for months at that point and Ancient Evil managed to drag the mode kicking and screaming to relevancy …for about five minutes – which is more than any of us expected
