Hello! If you are here, it may be because your game just exploded **once again** and you’re just tired of it because you’ve tried **EVERYTHING** to make the game run as it’s supposed to. Look no further. I’ve found some of the weirdest solutions to this. Please, take a seat as we dive deep into EVERY solution possible, together 🙂 Please, if you’ve found a solution not listed here, post it on the comments so we can grow this post and (hopefully) help many people out there. I’ll add more fixes if I find them or I remember them lol.
**My Specs** (just for comparison, as I’m not aware if the crashes can occur simply by changing components).
\- Motherboard Gigabyte B450M
\- RAM: 16GB
\- Storage: SSD NVMe M.2 XPG Gammix S5 (Here’s the game installed).
\- Graphics: Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060.
\- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3400g
**The Obvious Ones:**
* **Check your specs.** Yeah, the most obvious one. The game can be way too heavy for low end pc’s.
* **Update ALL your drivers.** Yeah, go for the graphic drivers, BUT… also update every driver you have; processor’s drivers, Windows drivers, sound, keyboard and mouse, LED drivers such as Razer Chroma and so on. Check EVERYTHING.
* **Reinstall everything related to the Cold War game**: This includes the game itself AND battle.net’s app.
* **Explore and repair:** On [Battle.net](https://Battle.net). Next to the “Play” Button, click on the engine button and let your PC search for any corrupted file you may have.
* **Run the game on admin mode.**
**The ones you may’ve tried:**
* **Disable Window’s Game Mode:** Type “Game Mode” on the Windows tab, open the option and disable. This mode creates some weird optimization issues sometimes.
* **Disable ANY app superposition.** Apps like the Nvidia drivers and some razer optimization tools enable this by default, causing issues. Search how to disable them as every app has their way to disable them.
* **Run the game on Windowed Fullscreen Mode.** For some this works like a charm. For others like me, the game won’t even allow me to reach the options menu before it breaks 🙂 moving on!
* **Disable Raytracing.** Same as before, the game maybe won’t even let you do this before it breaks. If you manage to reach the options menu, disable this.
* **Disable Vertical Sync.** Same as before.
**The tricky ones.**
* **Free some space on your HDD/SSD.** Your PC needs to have enough space to allow memory paging, a magic tool that keeps your apps running smoothly. If you overload your PC, this will slow down CoD and basically every app you run.
* **Run the game on DirectX 11.** Click on the engine button next to the Play button on [Battle.Net](https://Battle.Net), click on Game Configuration, there should be a checkbox that says Additional Command Line Arguments. Check the square and type “-d3d11” without the upper commas.
**The WEIRD ones:**
* **Unplug any AUX cable from your PC, then restart.** You may have a big pair of speakers or headphones connected to your PC via 35mm Jack. Well, for some weird reason, Cold War and Black Ops 3 can be afraid of these components. So just unplug them and restart your PC. Run the game and once it starts completely, connect the AUX Jack again and play like you normally would.
* **Uninstall ANY Razer Chroma drivers.** Remember I told you to update any drivers? Well, If you’ve come so far in this list, you may wanna try this one. Apparently, Cold War and Black Ops 3 don’t go along with the Razer Chroma drivers. I’m sure there should be some tweaks to ensure Razer Chroma doesn’t run when these games are launched, but nah! just uninstall them and see if it works. You can tweak that later to see if there’s a way to make them compatible if you want.
* **Run an anti-malware software.** I suggest Malwarebytes. You may have a virus that not even your old “trusty” Windows Defender hasn’t noticed. But cold war does, and when it does, it just dies in agony unable to start. Do your PC a favor and vaccinate it from any malware you may have.
* **You have pirated windows.** Not being judgemental here, but “a friend of mine”, being sick of the game’s crashes, told us as a joke “Hey! What if my Windows Crack is actually the one responsible for Cold War’s crashes?” All of us were laughing for such conclusion, but then he used an anti malware software, it detected and deleted the crack, ran the game again and VOILÁ! The game was running smoothly again. All of us were just shocked by his discovery.
Hopefully any of these helped you! Thanks for reading.
