Why would they stop when rags like Forbes has their nose up their ass for robbing us constantly.

This is a *perfect* example of how small this sub reflects the entire playerbase. We could have a 2,000+ upvoted post here with 500+ comments all saying they refuse to buy the Blackcell BP, though it’ll make no difference. A few online click-bait sites will make some articles about it, but that’ll be all. The next month a more reputable site (like Forbes) will put out how much money they netted and it’s GeNiUs! For the record, I fucking loathe Forbes on any video game related articles they put out. It’s almost always an article *not* for the gamers who are actually playing the game, but for the buyers of shares or stockholders that want to know how the game is doing on a financial level. Not to mention it’s painfully obvious the lingo they try to use to sound informative and well-versed in the industry. Honestly, they could have gotten much better these past few months. But last year I read a lot of their articles and found not one I enjoyed from a gamers perspective.

Gaming journalists are garbage, simple as that. Unfortunately it’s too easy for studios to pay for articles like this so the general masses see what they want them to see.

As much as I hate the MTX in this game, It is genius from a business perspective.

There’s nothing gameplay wise forcing anyone to buy the premium BP (cod points for p2w DMZ bundles aside).

I’d be more mad at the dummies throwing away their money at this nonsense. Doesn’t matter how rich someone is, nothing in the store is worth close to half the price of a full game.

  4. No one is fucking you over, unless COD is your life.

    The game is free.

    Get over it.

Stop playing it if you hate it so much.

It’s not Forbe’s fault. It’s the huge amount of players who bought it who are at fault. Black Cell was a stroke of genius, since it made Activision a shit ton more money from the brain dead players who bought it.

Forbes is a finance and business magazine. The Blackcell pass is a great business move that benefits the business. This is totally on brand and not shocking at all.

Reddit, made up of many people who care about the actual state of the game, are not the primary audience when it comes to monetizing games.

I think if you dumb enough to buy it or you like it enough……. That is on you…….. I mean they sold Oblivion DLC on disks for horse armor………. A long time ago………

This article is not the reason why Activision operates the way it does. Money is the reason that Activision operates the way it does.

It just so happens that Forbes is an entire site/magazine about money, so they occasionally write articles like this about unique business moves that make lots of money.

I guess Activision does not have to improve the game to get the player base to spend money. Just add this and pay-to-win bundles.

Honestly, it was a well played move by Activision. Making it $30 makes it only $10 more if someone was buying COD points to purchase the 2400 point with the tier skips (and occasional extra operator skins). Tack on 1100 points, blueprint, operator, vehicle skin, items that doesn’t really cost them that much to produce to make it feel like a good value. Transition it so that you can purchase it with cash so that people can’t used their saved up COD points to buy it and it’s produces a nice sales bump for a game that is half way through it’s life cycle.
