I bought MW on Steam yesterday, and my original name was Br0t10us, and got this error despite me using that name for years. So I changed it to itsSnap, and it gave me the same error on restart, so I changed it again to itsSnapp in case “Snap” is the issue because I remember MW2 not allowing me to use Snap as a clan tag.
Now it’s giving me the same error again, but now it says I’ve used all my rename tokens, so I can’t go any further.

Yeah their display name filter is a joke. I suggest contacting Activision support just in case they decide to help
