This guy tested warzone 2’s broken audio

Three guys sprinting to him and he hears nothing. Sums this games audio up completely.

My theory as to why they’ve chosen to deprioritize footstep audio is that they insist on sharing balancing between 6v6 and BR, so we’ve ended up in this awful in between that doesn’t work for either.

Why make it worse than the beta. I thought they should improve from a beta not make it worse.

Edit: why downvote the idea that they should improve the game after a beta test not make it worse?

  4. Qwertykeybaord

Finally someone that puts research in the dogshit audio we have.

    Great video, well done sir.

  5. Fatrick_84

this all sound very logical from foot step stand point, but not sure if it explains why player can be ran down with a helicopter without the victim ever hearing it. Wouldn’t the helicopter be the priority sound in this case?

  6. Cherry-Shrimp

That’s great to know, I will abuse the shit out of this!

  7. remember how much people bitched about the super loud footsteps during the beta?

    yeah.

  8. SemiAutomattik

Wow, super informative video. This game is a travesty lmao.

Its not even just footstep audio that sucks. Multiple times I’ve had someone literally fire his gun right behind me and I get no audio. There’s no reason I should not be able to hear a Gun firing. And then same with vehicles sometimes I’ll get no Audio from those when they should have priority.

  10. flexwhine

beta levels of footstep audio/priority would reinforce camping meta even more than it is now. Why would you ever push someone who knows exactly where you’re coming from

  11. Hahaha this is so incredibly broken. Time to abuse the shit out of this if you want a better chance of winning. Call in an airstrike across the map and push the shit out of people

  12. Xreshiss

I’m not quite sure, but I think in the streamer’s clip you can actually hear the footsteps for a brief moment between the two killstreaks going off just as he picks up the armor box.

That’s not to say it’s not terrible, just an extra example of footsteps ducking in and out of the audio track.

  13. reditballoon

This is why I feel resurgence would better without airstrikes.

  14. Excellent analysis of the problem and the solution.

I think they want bad audio in the game at this point.

BF 2042 has some AMAZING footstep audio and no one can tell me otherwise.

I can legit track someone through different floors with how good the audio is.

  16. This game has the worst audio I’ve ever heard in any game, ever

  17. cheese1975

When i see a cam of my death my footsteps sound like im wearing iron boots with a bag of aluminum cans tied to me.

  18. TheRealRonMexico7

Makes perfect sense. Basically if theres any kind of action happening anywhere on the map then you wont get footsteps. Watching the video it almost makes me want to try smoking to slightly conceal my footstep audio since thats what it did in the vid

So basically this confirms what I thought was happening – it’s not so much that the audio is broken but rather I think it is intended. In fact its touched on a tiny bit in the video – in an actual warzone the volume of an airstrike is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY louder than footsteps. It makes sense that if you can hear an airstrike you shouldn’t be able to hear footsteps.

It’s interesting because I remember people complaining about almost the exact opposite thing in PUBG. PUBG (at least a long long time ago) red zones were extremely loud because it was meant to cover all of the other sounds. This meant that you could either set your volume for with regular gameplay (IE, setting your volume at a level which you could hear everything clearly in the game) but then have an EXTREMELY loud red zone, or you could set your volume taking into account the red zone but then have the rest of the game be much quieter. Or like a lot of people you could just mute your game when there was a red zone. Anyways the point is a lot of people complained about that.

Also I guess this is an unpopular opinion but I think Warzone’s audio is fine. I have never played a single BR where people did not complain about audio.

    In a nutshell:

MP and WZ are AGAIN tethered to each other, which is a mistake as they require vastly different balancing for weapons and audio. Nothing was learned from the first game.

  21. If it was a new acc he’d hear everything a mile away

  22. IneedtoBmyLonsomeTs

Yeah this has been known about for a while now, it was also a problem in warzone 1, it is just somehow worse in this game. The audio problem where there is almost no sound on something from behind you is new though and that is probably the worst part of this games audio.

  23. Malemansam

Also in killcam in mp/wz the audio seems to be not broken at all. I often can never hear people running up on me in game but in killcam its perfectly audible even with vertical differences which in game is broken too. Very strange.

  24. AVMADEVS

The part that get me ‘mad’ is where he says it could be fixed relatively easily… Thank you acti. for taking care of your (declining) playerbase.

  25. -Terrible-Extreme-

That’s my man Lachy doing what he does best! Go check him out on YT at TheTacticalBrit!

  26. IDidThisSoFuckMe

Lachy with some indirect JackFrags help, was a solid video compilation.

  27. KinKazumi

    I think they know.
And they give exactly 0 worries about this.

If you are a decent player with a good game knowlege and decent footstep audio you will shit on everyone that doesn’t.
It’s a way to allow “worse” players get the jump on everyone.
It was my feeling in Warzone 1 and it’s the same here.

Most of the time if you hear the footsteps you behave different ( witch is good i believe ), but if you don’t… well. This video happens.

My 2 cents on the matter.
